Purchase and activate a Software & Hardware Plan
Each Software & Hardware Plan includes one hardware terminal and one cloud desktop. Purchasing a bundle is more cost-effective than buying a cloud desktop and a hardware terminal separately. This topic describes how to purchase and activate a Software & Hardware Plan.
Software & Hardware Plan
A Software & Hardware Plan is a cost-effective alternative to buying a cloud desktop and a hardware terminal separately. Each bundle includes the following items:
One of the following hardware terminal models (for more information, see Hardware terminal technical specifications):
Alibaba Cloud Workspace Cube
Alibaba Cloud Workspace Ark Pro
Alibaba Cloud Workspace Ark
One cloud desktop with one of the following specifications:
Basic Office (4 vCPU/8 GiB memory)
Advanced Office (8 vCPU/16 GiB memory)

Console
Log on to the EDS enterprise console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Overview.
In the Common Features section on the right side of the page, find the Software & Hardware Plan block, and then click Benefit Management.
On the Benefits page, click Purchase Hardware and Software Plan.
Campaign page
Go to the Campaign page and log on to your Alibaba Cloud account.
In the Enterprise Secure Office section, click Buy Now on any product card.
On the Software & Hardware Plan page, configure all parameters.
NoteImportant parameters:
Region: To reduce latency, we recommend that you select a region that is geographically close to your end users. The region of a cloud desktop cannot be changed after a bundle is purchased. Plan your regions before you purchase a bundle.
Compute plan:
Hours represent total Running state time per month. Unused hours do not roll over.
If the monthly hours are used up, the cloud desktop continues to run. To prevent this, you can select the When monthly usage is exhausted, automatically stop or hibernate the cloud desktop option.
Quantity: The number of Software & Hardware Plans to purchase. Each bundle includes one hardware terminal and one cloud desktop.
At the bottom of the page, read the relevant agreements, select the checkbox to agree to all terms, and then click Buy Now.
On the Pay page, confirm the order details, click Subscribe, and then complete the payment as prompted.
NoteAfter the bundle is purchased, you can view and manage it on the Benefit Management page. The bundle must be activated within 30 days. If you do not activate it within the validity period, the bundle is automatically activated. This means a cloud desktop instance is automatically created and awaits assignment by an administrator.
A cloud desktop instance is not created until the bundle benefit is activated. Therefore, you cannot find the cloud desktop resource in the console before activation.
Activate bundle benefits
After you purchase a hardware and software bundle, you must activate the software benefit to create the cloud desktop. The following activation methods are available:
Administrator activation: The administrator activates the benefit directly in the console. Upon successful activation, a cloud desktop instance is created, and the login credentials are sent to the specified user via email or SMS.
End user activation: The administrator sets the activation type to end user activation in the console. An activation code is sent via SMS to the specified end user's mobile phone number. The end user uses the activation code on the hardware terminal to activate the bundle benefit.
Administrator activation
Log on to the EDS enterprise console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Overview.
In the Common Features section on the right side of the page, find the Software & Hardware Plan block, and then click Benefit Management.
On the Benefit Management page, find the benefit to activate and click Activate Benefit in the Actions column.
In the Activate Benefit dialog box, select Administrator Activation in the Activation Type section.
Click Add User and add one user for each bundle.
For example, if you purchased two Software & Hardware Plans, you must add two users.
In the Activation Method section, select one of the following methods:
Activate by using a system image: Use this method to activate a new cloud desktop.
Activate by using a custom image: Use this method if you need to transfer data from an existing cloud desktop to a new one.
NoteActivating a benefit creates a new cloud desktop; you cannot directly activate an existing one. However, you can create a custom image from an existing cloud desktop and then select this activation method to create a new desktop with the same configuration. After activation, release the old cloud desktop promptly to avoid duplicate costs.
You can select a custom image that meets all the following conditions:
The image status is Available.
The capacities of the image's data disk and system disk do not exceed the capacities included in the benefit.
The image's region is the same as the benefit's region.
At the bottom of the dialog box, click Activate.
After successful activation, the system creates cloud desktop instances with the specifications you selected. The login credentials for the cloud desktops are sent to the users you added via email or SMS. End users can use these credentials to log on to their hardware terminals.
End user activation
An administrator sets the activation type to end user activation in the console.
