Enable maintenance mode to perform maintenance on a cloud computer without interruption from end users.
Background
Enable maintenance mode for the cloud computer when you need to install or uninstall profiles or applications, or manage system disk configurations.
Use cases
-
For a shared cloud computer, enable maintenance mode to perform tasks like creating an image without allowing end users to connect. While in maintenance mode, the cloud computer cannot be accessed from an Alibaba Cloud Workspace terminal, but you can connect from the console to perform maintenance.
-
To temporarily prevent end users from using a dedicated cloud computer, you have several options:
-
Revoke the end user's authorization for the cloud computer. For more information, see Assign cloud computers or many-to-many shares to convenience accounts.
To restore the end user's access, you must reassign the cloud computer.
-
Lock the end user's convenience account. For more information, see Lock or unlock a convenience account.
ImportantIf you lock a convenience account, the user cannot log on to any Alibaba Cloud Workspace terminal or use any cloud computers.
-
Enable maintenance mode for the cloud computer. For more information, see Enable maintenance mode for a dedicated cloud computer.
NoteWhen a dedicated cloud computer is in maintenance mode, it is inaccessible to both administrators and end users.
To restore the end user's access, exit maintenance mode.
-
Behavior and impact
Maintenance mode works as follows:
-
If you enable maintenance mode for an unassigned cloud computer, the View/Add User and Manage MFA Device actions are disabled until you exit maintenance mode.
-
If you enable maintenance mode for a cloud computer assigned to an end user, the mode takes effect only after the current user disconnects their session. The end user cannot reconnect until you exit maintenance mode.
-
If you enable maintenance mode for a cloud computer in a many-to-many share, the mode takes effect only after all active sessions are disconnected. A cloud computer in maintenance mode is temporarily excluded from the pool of available cloud computers. When an end user reconnects, the system randomly assigns them an available cloud computer from the share based on your scaling rules.
-
The system logs all maintenance activities for a cloud computer in maintenance mode. You can view these operation logs if you have the required system permissions. For more information, see Grant EDS Enterprise system policies to a RAM user or View operation logs.
Prerequisites
-
The cloud computer is in the Stopped or Running state.
-
If you use a RAM user to perform maintenance, grant that user the necessary permissions. For more information, see Manage RAM user permissions.
