This topic describes common questions about policies.
What configuration items are available for policies?
Policies control end user permissions for using cloud comuters and enhance data security. EDS supports the following policy settings: Watermark, Anti-screenshot, Local Disk Mapping, Clipboard, Image Display Quality, Image Quality Control, Network Transmission, Web Client File Transfer, Printer Redirection, Webcam Redirection, Logon Method Control, Security Group Control, DNS, Client IP Whitelist, USB Redirection, Screen Recording Audit, Media Redirection. For details on how to configure each policy item, see Create a policy.
Do I need to restart my cloud comuter after modifying its associated policy?
No. Different policies take effect under different rules. Some policies apply in real time after modification, while others require you to reconnect to the cloud comuter to take effect. For more information, see Policy application rules.
How do I restrict a cloud comuter to access only specific domain names?
Enable the DNS and configure domain name access rules to allow the cloud comuter to access only specified domains. If DNS Policy is disabled or enabled without any domain access rules configured, the cloud comuter can access all domains. For more information, see Control domain name access permissions for cloud comuters.
Can different users of the same cloud comuter use different policies?
No. Policies currently control permissions at the cloud comuter level and do not support user-level permission control.
How do I associate a policy?
A policy cannot be used alone. It must be associated with a cloud comuter for its configuration items to take effect. You can associate a policy as follows:
When creating a cloud comuter, associate a policy in the Activate Elastic Desktop Service page under the Advanced Settings section.
On the Cloud Computers page, locate the target cloud comuter, click Actions in the More column, then select Change Policy and follow the interface prompts to associate the target policy.
How do I configure the disconnect timer policy?
The client disconnect timer policy works as follows:
If your EDS instance uses the pay-as-you-go or subscription (unlimited usage duration) billing method:
The client's disconnect timer policy and idle timer policy depend on scheduled tasks configured by administrators in the WUYING console. You can choose whether the disconnect timer takes effect based on client-side user configuration or console administrator configuration.
If your EDS instance uses the subscription (monthly usage duration included) billing method:
The cloud comuter has a default disconnect timer policy. You can configure it directly in the client policy settings or through a scheduled task using the console administrator configuration option.
