Cloud computers in Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) rely on images for their functionality. Keep your images up-to-date to ensure optimal performance and a smooth user experience.
Configure automatic push
The automatic push feature applies to cloud computers that are created from a custom image.
Only custom images support the automatic push feature. You do not need to manually update a system image or shared image.
Log on to the EDS enterprise console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Images Center > Image Updates.
In the top navigation bar, select a region.
-
On the Image Updates page, enable or disable automatic updates as needed.
-
If enabled, the system automatically pushes update tasks to the end users of cloud computers that use the image. When an end user logs on to the client, they receive an update notification and can choose whether to apply the update. We recommend enabling this feature to ensure the best end user experience.
-
If disabled, you must manually push update tasks from the console. End users receive an update notification only after you push the task.
NoteDisabling automatic updates may delay image updates. If an image is not updated for a long time, the cloud computer may not function as expected.
-
Update an image
The system automatically provides new image versions. When an update is available for your cloud computers, you can apply it immediately or schedule it for a later time. You can also push update tasks to end users, who can then choose whether to apply the update after logging on to their WUYING terminal.
Before you begin
Update an image
-
An image update takes approximately 15 minutes.
-
To prevent issues, do not share or copy the image, create a new cloud computer or computer pool, or change the image of an existing cloud computer or computer pool until the update is complete. If you perform any of these actions during the update, the previous image version is used.
Update a cloud computer image
-
Updating a cloud computer image takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The cloud computer is unavailable to the end user during the update.
-
The system automatically updates only the cloud computers that are in the Running state and not in use.
-
You can update a cloud computer image immediately or schedule the update. If you schedule an update, note the following:
-
The system skips the update if an end user is connected to the cloud computer during the scheduled update window. To ensure the update succeeds, we recommend configuring a scheduled task that prevents user connections during the update window. For more information, see Configure a scheduled task.
-
If you modify a scheduled update task, the system uses the latest settings for the update method and date.
-
After you schedule an update, the end user receives a notification with the update time and important notes.
-
-
To prevent service disruptions from a failed update, you must create a snapshot to back up data before updating a cloud computer. If the update fails or if you want to roll back to the previous version, you can restore data from the snapshot. For more information, see Use snapshots (public preview). For batch update tasks, the system automatically creates a snapshot for each cloud computer before the task starts.
Procedure
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Images Center > Image Updates.
In the top navigation bar, select a region.
-
On the Image Updates page, find the target update version in the task list and perform the operations as described in the following table.
-
In the Actions column, click Query Involved Custom Image and Update Progress.
-
Find the image that you want to update, click Upgrade in the Actions column, and then follow the prompts.
-
In the Actions column, click Query Involved Cloud Computer and Progress.
-
In the Query Involved Cloud Computer and Progress panel, choose one of the following methods to update cloud computer images.
-
Update a single cloud computer image
-
Find the cloud computer that you want to update and click Upgrade in the Actions column.
-
In the Upgrade dialog box, carefully read the notes, select an update method, and then follow the prompts to complete the update.
NoteThe system automatically restarts the cloud computer during the update. After the update is complete, the cloud computer returns to its pre-update state. This indicates a successful image update.
-
-
Update multiple cloud computer images
-
Select the cloud computers that you want to update and click Immediate/Schedule Update at the bottom of the list.
-
In the Upgrade dialog box, carefully read the notes, select an update method, and then follow the prompts to complete the update.
NoteThe system automatically restarts the cloud computer during the update. After the update is complete, the cloud computer returns to its pre-update state. This indicates a successful image update.
-
-
-
The default update window for scheduled updates is from 00:00 to 05:00 every day. You can select the date but not the time.
-
The system limits the number of cloud computers that can be scheduled for an update each day. If a day's quota is full, you must select another date.
-
You cannot schedule an update for the next day after 21:00 on the current day.
-
By default, the system automatically creates a snapshot for each cloud computer 3 hours before a scheduled update starts. You can also configure the system to create snapshots 6 hours in advance.

|
View the release notes of the target version |
In the Actions column, click View Release Notes. The release notes include the target version, update package size, and what's new. |
|
View custom images to be updated |
In the Actions column, click Query Involved Custom Image and Update Progress. This panel shows the custom images affected by the update, including their names, status, and version information. |
|
Update an image or view the update progress |
During the update, you can monitor the image status. The update is complete when the status changes from Updating to Available. |
|
View information about cloud computers to be updated |
In the Actions column, click Query Involved Cloud Computer and Progress. This panel shows the cloud computers affected by the update, including their names, office network IDs, current image versions, and whether pending update tasks exist. |

Note
If you schedule a batch update, note the following: |
|
Manually push an update task |
In the Actions column, click Start Push. If automatic push is disabled, you can manually push an update task. This is useful when a cloud computer has multiple pending updates, because you can choose to push only the latest version. |
|
Stop pushing an update task |
In the Actions column, click Stop Push. You can stop pushing an update version if it is no longer needed or relevant. |
