This document explains how to bind an Alibaba Cloud DevOps account to a DingTalk account to receive notifications in DingTalk.

Background information

New users: If you are new to Alibaba Cloud DevOps, follow this document to bind your Alibaba Cloud account to DingTalk.

Existing users: To improve your user experience, the DingTalk account binding in Alibaba Cloud DevOps now uses the Alibaba Cloud account for QR code login and single sign-on. Some early users may have bound a DingTalk account in Alibaba Cloud DevOps that is different from the one bound in their Alibaba Cloud account. We recommend updating your binding to complete the upgrade. To check if your accounts are consistent, see Unified upgrade of Alibaba Cloud DevOps DingTalk account binding to Alibaba Cloud account.

DingTalk message notification setup

After you bind your DingTalk account, you can join an Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization and receive DingTalk messages. Actions that trigger notifications, such as creating or modifying a task, will send a DingTalk message to the task participants. For more information, see DingTalk message notifications.

Note

To receive DingTalk message notifications, the Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization that you join must be bound to a DingTalk organization. For details, see Bind an Organization to Synchronize Its Structure and Members.

The setup method varies depending on whether you have an Alibaba Cloud account and the type of account you use:

Bind a main account to a DingTalk account

When logged out of Alibaba Cloud

Step 1: Log on with a QR code

Go to Alibaba Cloud DevOps. On the Alibaba Cloud logon page, use the DingTalk app to scan the QR code and log on.

Step 2: Select an Alibaba Cloud account

After logging on to Alibaba Cloud with DingTalk, select a DingTalk organization in the app (the DingTalk organization bound to your Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization).

  1. Select to associate an existing Alibaba Cloud account.

  2. Select the User Agreement and Privacy Policy checkbox.

  3. Click Next.

Step 3: Confirm the account binding

  1. Enter your Alibaba Cloud account.

  2. Enter your password.

  3. Select the "I have read the Alibaba Cloud Customer Center (DingTalk Organization) Management Specification" checkbox.

  4. Click Log On.

To switch the DingTalk organization, click the Switch organization link at the top of the page.

Step 4: Confirm logon

Click Log on to Alibaba Cloud Web to complete the binding between your Alibaba Cloud account and DingTalk account. After the binding is complete, you can then join and access the Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization that is associated with the DingTalk organization you selected in Step 3.

When logged in to Alibaba Cloud

Bind your account in the Alibaba Cloud account center by following these steps:

  1. Go to account center - Security Settings.

  2. In the third-party login section, find and click the DingTalk icon. In the pop-up window, agree to the Third-party Account Binding and Login Agreement, and then scan the QR code with the DingTalk mobile app.

  1. Select a DingTalk organization. This should be the organization that needs to be bound to the Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization. After selecting the organization, click Confirm Binding.

  1. On your computer, refresh the page to confirm the binding is complete. You can then join and access the Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization associated with the DingTalk organization you just selected.

Bind a RAM user to a DingTalk account

  1. Open the DingTalk invitation link for your Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization (which can be provided by your organization administrator), or go to the Alibaba Cloud DevOps Personal Settings page. The page you see depends on which link you use and whether you have already joined an Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization.

  2. To access Alibaba Cloud DevOps, log on to Alibaba Cloud. If you are already logged on, skip to the next step.

    1. On the RAM user logon page, select RAM username/password login. On the RAM user logon page, in the username field, enter your RAM username in the format <username>@<default domain name> or <username>@<account alias> (for example, username@company-alias.onaliyun.com), and then click Next.

    2. Enter your password and then click Log On.

  3. After you log on, you are redirected to an Alibaba Cloud DevOps page. The page that appears varies depending on the link you used and whether you have already joined an organization.

    1. If you used a DingTalk invitation link, click Bind DingTalk and then proceed to Step 4.

    2. If you opened the Alibaba Cloud DevOps Personal Settings page and have not yet joined an organization, you are taken to the Join organization page. Click Join, and then on the next page, click Bind and join organization. Then proceed to Step 4.

    3. If you opened the Alibaba Cloud DevOps Personal Settings page and have already joined an organization, you will see a different page. Click Go to Bind and then proceed to Step 4.

In the left navigation pane, select third-party binding. The DingTalk binding card shows a status of "Alibaba Cloud account not bound to DingTalk".

  4. You are taken to the RAM binding page.

On the Bind RAM user with DingTalk page, open your DingTalk app and scan the QR code to bind your RAM user with your DingTalk account.

  5. Scan the QR code with your DingTalk mobile app and tap Log on to Alibaba Cloud Web.

  6. Confirm the organization that you want to bind, and then click Confirm Binding.

If you came from the Personal Settings page, you must select an organization.

If you used a DingTalk invitation link, you can just confirm.

  7. On the success page, click OK.

The success page displays the DingTalk QR code logon URL: https://signin.aliyun.com/login.htm?defaultShowQrCode=true.

  8. Return to the Alibaba Cloud DevOps page. You can now access the Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization.

Register a main account and bind to DingTalk

  1. Go to Alibaba Cloud DevOps. On the Alibaba Cloud logon page, select Log on with QR code.

  2. Scan the QR code with your DingTalk mobile app:

    1. Select a DingTalk organization (the one bound to your Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization).

    2. Select Create and authorize a new account.

    3. Select the User Agreement and Privacy Policy checkbox.

    4. Click Next.

  3. Click Log on to Alibaba Cloud Web to complete the binding between your Alibaba Cloud account and DingTalk account. After the binding is complete, you can then join and access the Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization that is associated with the DingTalk organization you selected in Step 2.

Unbind your personal account

Important
  • An organization owner cannot unbind their personal account. To unbind the account, you must first transfer the organization ownership.

  • If your DingTalk organization is bound to an Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization, unbinding your personal account automatically removes you from that Alibaba Cloud DevOps organization. If you rebind your account, you will automatically rejoin the organization.

On the Alibaba Cloud DevOps Personal Settings page, click third-party binding in the left navigation pane. In the DingTalk binding section, click Unbind.

DingTalk message notifications

After completing the DingTalk binding (for both your organization and your personal account), actions that trigger notifications, such as creating or modifying a task, will send a work notification to the task participants via DingTalk.

DingTalk sends notifications for the following activities:

Projex:

  • Basic activities: Includes task creation, moving a task, and moving a task to the recycle bin.

  • Update activities: Includes notifications for comments, status changes, content updates, assignee changes, due date changes, and priority changes.

  • Linked content activities: Notifications related to linked content.

Codeup:

  • Third-party library import event notifications.

  • Merge request operation notifications.

  • Member permission change notifications.

  • Repository or group transfer or path change notifications.

  • Repository or group deletion event notifications.

  • Repository or group visibility change notifications.

  • Alert notifications.

Flow:

  • Manual review notifications.

  • Adding, deleting, or modifying Flow members.

  • Notifications for failed or canceled runs.

  • Flow deletion notifications.

  • Flow ownership transfer notifications.

Note

You will not receive a work notification for an action that you perform yourself.

Work notifications are sent only to task participants. If you are not a participant in a specific task, you will not receive a work notification for that task, even if you are the project owner.
