managed-ack-aether
managed-ack-aether is a managed add-on from Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) that caches resource lists. It accelerates console resource list queries in large-scale clusters.
Overview
managed-ack-aether continuously synchronizes Kubernetes resource changes in a cluster and serves resource list queries for the console from a cache. This reduces the overhead of repeatedly reading the full set of resources from the API server. The add-on is deployed on the managed control plane of the ACK cluster and does not consume worker node resources.
After managed-ack-aether is installed for the first time or restarted, it must synchronize resources. Before the synchronization is complete, cached queries for the corresponding resource types are temporarily unavailable. The synchronization time depends on the number of resources and the response time of the API server.
Feature | Description |
Paginated queries | Returns resource lists page by page and provides the total number of resources that match the query conditions. |
Sorting and filtering | Sorts resources by resource field, and filters resources by namespace, label, and other supported fields. |
Resource synchronization | Continuously synchronizes the creation, update, and deletion of resources and refreshes the list cache. |
managed-ack-aether provides read-only list queries only. It does not modify business resources in the cluster.
managed-ack-aether synchronizes resource changes asynchronously. Cached data is therefore subject to a synchronization delay. If resources change frequently, the resource list in the console may be temporarily inconsistent with the actual state of the cluster.
Usage notes
Prerequisites
An ACK managed Pro cluster that runs Kubernetes 1.24 or later is created. For more information, see Create an ACK managed cluster.
You have the permissions to install add-ons in the target cluster. For more information, see Grant cluster and cloud resource access with RAM.
Supported resource types
By default, v0.1.0 caches the following 15 types of resources to support resource list queries in the console:
Category | Resource type |
Core resources | Pod, Service, ConfigMap, Secret, Namespace, Node, ServiceAccount, PersistentVolume, and PersistentVolumeClaim |
Workloads | Deployment, StatefulSet, and ReplicaSet |
Batch jobs | Job |
Access control resources | Role and RoleBinding |
