Use the Warm-up feature for systems that operate with low traffic for an extended period. This feature prevents a sudden traffic surge from overwhelming the system and causing it to become unavailable.
How it works
The Warm-up feature, also known as preheating, protects a system from sudden traffic surges. If a system has been running with low traffic for a long time, an unexpected spike in traffic can overwhelm and crash it. A warm-up rule gradually increases traffic over a specified period until it reaches the configured threshold. This gives the system time to prepare for the increased load.
The warm-up feature is based on the Guava algorithm. It adjusts the rate of traffic increase to gradually raise the traffic to the specified threshold over a set period.
