The system management feature displays the management status and other relevant information for instances in the operating system console. Only managed instances can use the features of the operating system console.

Prerequisites

If you use a RAM user, make sure that the Alibaba Cloud account (primary account) has granted the RAM user the AliyunECSReadOnlyAccess, AliyunSubManageFullAccess, and AliyunSysomFullAccess system policies.
The console permissions are activated.

The first time you log on to the Operating System Console, click Activate Service to activate the console service.

Manage instances

Go to Operating System Console - System Management.
In the upper part of the left-side navigation pane, select the region in which the target instance resides.
Select the Unmanaged tab to view all unmanaged instances.
Find the target instance, and in the Actions column, click Install SysOM.

View managed instances

Warning

After the operating system of a managed ECS instance is changed, you must Uninstall a component and then Install a component again. Otherwise, the Management Status on the System Management page always appears as offline, which affects the related features of the Operating System Console.

Go to Operating System Console - System Management.
In the upper part of the left-side navigation pane, select the region in which the target instance resides.
Select the Managed tab to view all managed instances.
In the instance list, click Details in the Actions column.

Node monitoring

The node monitoring feature lets you view network, I/O, scheduling, and memory monitoring metrics for a node.

View monitoring data

Go to Operating System Console - System Management.
In the upper part of the left-side navigation pane, select the region in which the target instance resides.
Select the Managed tab to view all managed instances.
In the instance list, in the Actions column, click Node Monitoring to open the monitoring view.

Node monitoring

A node selection drop-down list is displayed at the top of the Node Monitoring page. Below the list, four tabs are provided: Network Monitoring, I/O Monitoring, Scheduling Monitoring, and Memory Monitoring. You can view monitoring data by 1 Hour, 3 Hours, 6 Hours, 12 Hours, 1 Day, 3 Days, 7 Days, or a Custom time range. Each monitoring tab displays metric trends in line charts.

In the drop-down list at the top of the page, select the node whose monitoring information you want to view.

Select the tab of the monitoring item that you want to view.

Use the time range selector to view monitoring data for different time periods.

Hover over the icon next to a metric name to view the description of the monitoring metric.
