Use tags

You can use tags to mark Cloud Backup clients. This lets you group clients that serve the same purpose, which simplifies searching and resource aggregation. This topic describes how to set tags for ECS File Backup and Local File Backup clients.

Preparations

You have granted the required permissions and installed the ECS File Backup client. For more information, see Prerequisites.

Background information

You can set tags for backup clients to classify and manage them. These tags are associated with the Cloud Backup client and are separate from the tags of the ECS instance. For example, you can set a tag such as project:a to group clients by project or department. This helps you quickly find and manage specific clients during maintenance.

Usage notes

  • A tag is a key-value pair.

  • Each tag key must be unique for a resource.

If you add a tag with a key that already exists for the resource, the new value overwrites the old value. For example, if a client has the tag company:a and you add the tag company:b, the original tag is replaced by company:b.

  • Tags are region-specific. For example, a tag created in the China (Hangzhou) region is not visible in the China (Shanghai) region.

Precautions

Note the following limits for tags:
