The Cloud Managed Network (CMN) service consists of two parts: offline hardware probes and cloud-based features. After you complete your payment, the cloud-based features are activated within 30 minutes. You can then log on and access the service with your Alibaba Cloud account. After you receive the hardware probe, deploy it and connect it to your operations and maintenance (O&M) network. Then, return to the CMN service interface to attach the hardware to a service instance. This completes the CMN activation. CMN is available in Enterprise and Professional editions, which differ by feature. The service also supports multiple specifications based on the number of managed devices. This topic describes how to activate and use CMN, and how to select the edition and specifications that meet your needs.
Prerequisites
You have registered an Alibaba Cloud account and completed identity verification. For more information, see Alibaba Cloud account registration process.
Activate CMN
If you are a new user, follow these steps to activate CMN:
Review the CMN product manual. Then, log on to your Alibaba Cloud account and activate the service.
Select the maximum number of managed devices, product specifications, and subscription duration based on your requirements.
Bring the probe agent online, connect it to the target O&M network, and configure it for public network access.
After the CMN service is activated, go to the probe management page and attach the hardware MAC address and security domain to the service instance to complete the service deployment.
In addition to the physical space property that identifies their location, CMN resources have another important management property: the security domain.
A security domain is an important identifier used to define the scope of resource management. Security domains are typically created based on physical network fencing rules, such as for office networks and E-commerce networks. Network security domains are isolated and cannot communicate with each other.
For example, in a nationally distributed structure, outlets can be divided into independent security domains that are isolated from each other.
A resource can belong to only one security domain. A security domain has a one-to-one association with an agent deployment. Operations management configurations are also partitioned by security domain.
