Usage of Redis clients supported by the agent

Updated at:

The latest Application Monitoring (ARMS) agent supports popular Redis clients with varying levels of coverage for Lettuce, Redisson, and Jedis.

Lettuce

The Lettuce client supports the following usage methods:

  • Synchronous operations: Make synchronous calls by using io.lettuce.core.api.StatefulRedisConnection#sync. The latest ARMS agent supports this operation.

  • Asynchronous operations: Make asynchronous calls by using JDK features such as futures with io.lettuce.core.api.StatefulRedisConnection#async. The latest ARMS agent does not fully support this operation. Metrics such as call duration and request and response sizes may be inaccurate.

  • Reactive operations: Use the Reactive API for reactive programming with io.lettuce.core.api.StatefulRedisConnection#reactive. The latest ARMS agent does not fully support this operation. Metrics such as call duration and request and response sizes may be inaccurate.

  • Operations with spring-boot-starter-redis: The latest ARMS agent instruments and monitors only Redis operations in the org.springframework.data.redis.connection.lettuce.LettuceHashCommands class. Other classes such as RedisGeoCommands and RedisHyperLogLogCommands are not supported.

Redisson

The Redisson client supports the following usage methods:

  • Standard synchronous or asynchronous operations: Make synchronous or asynchronous calls based on JDK future features by using classes such as org.redisson.api.RedissonClient. The latest ARMS agent has limited support for these calls and supports only Redisson versions earlier than 3.10.4. Some attributes introduced in versions 3.10.4 and later are not supported, such as org.redisson.RedissonJsonBucket, which was added in version 3.17.4.

  • RxJava-based reactive operations: Use the RxJava API for reactive programming with classes such as org.redisson.api.RedissonRxClient. The latest ARMS agent does not fully support this operation. Metrics such as call duration and request and response sizes may be inaccurate.

  • Reactive-based operations: Use the Reactive API for reactive programming with classes such as org.redisson.api.RedissonReactiveClient. The latest ARMS agent does not fully support this operation. Metrics such as call duration and request and response sizes may be inaccurate.

Jedis

The latest ARMS agent fully supports most Jedis client use cases.

Upgrade to the 4.X agent for more comprehensive Redis observability data

If the supported Redis client use cases do not meet your needs, upgrade to the ARMS 4.X agent, which supports all use cases described in this topic. You can submit a ticket to obtain the latest 4.X agent.
