Manage governance workbench

The Governance Workbench provides governance operations for different types of tables and tasks. This topic describes how to govern physical tables, logical tables, script tasks, and logical table tasks.

Background information

The Governance Workbench serves as a comprehensive governance solution for project administrators and developers. It categorizes governance items into unprocessed and processed, based on dimensions such as governance realm, object, and item. The system offers governance capabilities from two perspectives: My Related Governance and Project Governance.

  • My Related Governance: Displays governance items associated with the current account, either as the owner (project administrator) or as a participant (project member).

  • Project Governance: Provides a view of governance items from two angles: My Participation and My Responsibility.

    • My Participation: Lists all governance items in projects where the current account, excluding project administrators, participates in various roles.

    • My Responsibility: Lists all governance items in projects where the current account is the project administrator.

The modules and features of My Related Governance and Project Governance are similar. This topic will use My Related Governance as an example for demonstration.

    Parameter

    Description

    Governance Realm

Governance Realm includes Storage and Computation.

    Governance Object

    • If Governance Realm is Storage, then Governance Object includes Physical Table and Logical Table.

    • If Governance Realm is Computation, then Governance Object includes Script Task and Modeling Task.

    Governance Item

    • If you set Administration Realm to Storage and Administration Object to Physical Table, the Administration Item can be Unmanaged Table, Empty Table, Abandoned Table, Lifecycle Too Long, or a custom administration item.

    • If Governance Realm is Storage and Governance Object is Logical Table, then Governance Item includes Logical Unmanaged Table, Logical Abandoned Table, Logical Empty Table, Black Box Materialization Empty Table, and custom governance items.

    • If Governance Realm is Computation and Governance Object is Script Task, then Governance Item includes Output Table Not Read, Error Node, Input Is Empty, Brute Force Scan, Data Inflation, Data Skew, and Import Is Empty.

    • If Governance Realm is Computation and Governance Object is Modeling Task, then Governance Item includes Output Table Not Read, Error Node, Input Is Empty, Brute Force Scan, Data Skew, and Data Inflation.
