R&D specifications encompass table specifications and process control. They are essential for defining the time partition, data timestamp, table naming conventions, and R&D process control for business objects and activities at the plate level. This topic outlines the steps to view and edit table specifications and manage the R&D process control for business objects and activities.
Prerequisites
Before beginning the operation, ensure that the data plate has been created. For more information, see Create a data plate.
Permission requirements
The super administrator, system administrator, and plate architect have the authority to edit table specifications and control the R&D process.
View and edit table specifications
-
In the top menu bar of the Dataphin home page, select Planning > Data Architecture.
-
On the Business Unit page, click the name of the desired data plate to access the Data Plate List page.
-
On the Data Plate List page, click the R&D Specifications tab, hover the mouse over the card, and click the edit icon in the upper right corner to modify the table specifications.
Plate-level Rules
Description
Time Partition - Day
The logical table's daily schedule cycle uses the day partition property as the system partition field. Modifications are generally not recommended unless specific enterprise standards require them.
To modify time partition parameters, configure the following:
Display Name: The default is Time Partition - Day. Modifications are supported and can include Chinese characters, letters, numbers, underscores (_), or hyphens (-), with a maximum length of 64 characters.
English Name: The default is ds. Modifications are supported if no business entities exist in the current plate. It can include letters, numbers, or underscores (_), and cannot exceed 64 characters.
Data Type: The data type depends on the compute engine type.
MaxCompute Compute Engine: STRING.
Default Format: Select the default format for the time partition. The default is yyyyMMdd. Supports yyyyMMdd, yyyy-MM-dd.
Description: Provide a brief description of the time partition, within 128 characters.
Time Partition - Hour
The logical table's hourly schedule cycle uses the day and hour partition properties as the system partition fields. Modifications are generally not recommended unless specific enterprise standards require them.
To modify time partition parameters, configure the following:
Chinese Name: The default is Time Partition - Hour. Modifications are supported and can include Chinese characters, letters, numbers, underscores (_), or hyphens (-), with a maximum length of 64 characters.
English Name: The default is hh. Modifications are supported if no business entities exist in the current plate. It can include letters, numbers, or underscores (_), and cannot exceed 64 characters.
Data Type: The data type depends on the compute engine type. MaxCompute Compute Engine: STRING.
Default Format: Fixed as HH (24-hour format), modifications are not supported.
Description: Provide a brief description of the time partition, within 128 characters.
Time Partition - Minute
The logical table's minute schedule cycle uses the day, hour, and minute partition properties as the system partition fields. Modifications are generally not recommended unless specific enterprise standards require them.
Chinese Name: The default is Time Partition - Minute. Modifications are supported and can include Chinese characters, letters, numbers, underscores (_), or hyphens (-), with a maximum length of 64 characters.
English Name: The default is mm. Modifications are supported if no business entities exist in the current plate. It can include letters, numbers, or underscores (_), and cannot exceed 64 characters.
Data Type: The data type depends on the compute engine type. MaxCompute Compute Engine: STRING.
Default Format: Fixed as mm, modifications are not supported.
Description: Provide a brief description of the time partition, within 128 characters.
Logical Table Naming Conventions
Establish the naming conventions for logical dimension tables, logical fact tables, and logical aggregate tables. For default conventions, see Create a data plate.
Enable process control
To use the R&D specification feature, you must enable the asset operation Pro feature or the intelligent R&D edition.
If you have the basic R&D edition of the Dataphin instance, you must also enable the asset operation Pro feature to use the R&D specification feature.
Once enabled, all business objects and activities must receive approval from the plate architect before they can be officially published, ensuring the quality of model R&D.
On the Data Plate List page, click the R&D Specifications tab, and then click the R&D Constraints tab.
Hover the mouse over the Conceptual Design · Process Control card, activate the process control switch in the upper right corner, and then click Confirm.
