Manage data sources
To use DataV-Note to analyze data and create reports from your databases, data warehouses (such as RDS MySQL and MaxCompute), or local files, you must create a DataV-Note data source or import data into DataV-Note. This topic describes the supported data types and how to connect to and manage your data.
Supported data types
DataV-Note supports two types of data: data sources created on the Data Source Management page and local file data imported on the File Datasets page.
Create a data source: You can create the following types of data sources as needed. Once created, a data source lets you access its corresponding database or data warehouse within a DataV-Note project.
AnalyticDB for MySQL
AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL
Greenplum
MaxCompute
PolarDB for MySQL
PolarDB for PostgreSQL
PostgreSQL
RDS MySQL
Import file data: You can import data files in
CSV,XLSX, andJSONformats to DataV-Note. For more information about the import operations and file format requirements, see Add a file dataset.
Once connected, you can query, analyze, and visualize your data.
Manage data sources
On the Data Source Management page, you can view, search, test, refresh, edit, and delete your data sources.
Go to the Data Source Management page.
Log on to the DataV-Note console.
In the left-side navigation pane, switch to the target workspace and click to go to the Data Source Management page.

Data source list
You can view the name, description, and connection status of all data sources. The connection statuses include:
Connected: The data source is accessible. You can query and analyze its data on the Project Editor page.
Connection failed: The data source is inaccessible and does not appear on the Project Editor page. Try testing the connectivity and resolving any reported errors.
Not tested: You must test the data source's connectivity. Once its status is Connected, you can use it for queries and analysis.
Hover over a status to see the time of the last test.
Search data sources
In the Search by data source name area, search for a data source by its name or description.
NoteThe search supports fuzzy matching and is case-sensitive.
Test connectivity
After you add a data source, you must test its connectivity. Only data sources that pass the connectivity test appear in the Databases list in the left-side navigation pane of the Project Editor and can be used for queries and analysis.

Click the
icon in the lower-right corner of a data source to test its connectivity. If the connection fails, resolve the issue based on the error message. Common causes include an unconfigured whitelist, or an incorrect domain name or port.NoteIf you cannot resolve the error, you can contact technical support for assistance.
Refresh cache
If data in the source database changes (for example, a new field is added), the metadata center must be updated to prevent inconsistencies. Before using a data source, click the
icon to refresh the cache list and get the latest data.Edit or delete data source
Edit: Hover over the
icon and click Edit. On the page that appears, follow the on-screen instructions to modify the connection information of the data source.Delete: Hover over the
icon and click Delete to remove a data source.ImportantThis operation cannot be undone. Proceed with caution.
Manage file datasets
In the file dataset list, you can view details, copy file names, create SQL queries, edit, and delete imported files.
Go to the file dataset list.
Log on to the DataV-Note console.
In the left-side navigation pane, switch to the target workspace.
On the tab, hover over the target project and click Edit to go to the project editor.
In the Datasets area on the left, expand the File Datasets list to view the imported data files.
Hover over a data file to manage it:
Copy the file name, create an SQL query based on the current file, edit the file data, or delete the file as needed.
ImportantThis operation cannot be undone. Proceed with caution.

View details such as the file schema and sample data.

Schema: The table's field names, data types, and other information. Parameters vary between tables.
Sample Data: A sample of the table's data. To view the full data, go to SQL Analysis.
