Scheduling instance fees
When you use a serverless resource group or a shared resource group for scheduling to run scheduling tasks such as data integration and data computing, DataWorks charges fees based on the number of instances that run successfully each day.
Comparison of scheduling resource group types
Both serverless resource groups and shared resource groups for scheduling provide scheduling capabilities and use the same tiered billing model based on the number of successful instances per day.
This topic describes only the scheduling instance fees generated by task scheduling. A serverless resource group has separate subscription and pay-as-you-go billing methods. For more information, see Serverless resource group billing.
|
Resource group type |
Description |
Billing method |
|
serverless resource group (Recommended) |
Dedicated to a single tenant. Provides strong resource isolation and stable performance. |
Tiered billing based on the number of successful instances per day. This billing method is described in this topic. |
|
shared resource group for scheduling |
Resources are shared among all tenants and can be used only for scheduling tasks. During peak hours, resource contention may occur, which can prevent tasks from running on time. The number of instances is also limited. |
Billing scenarios
Scheduling instance fees are incurred when you use supported DataWorks nodes to run scheduling tasks, such as data integration tasks or data computing tasks, in the following scenarios:
-
In Operation Center for the production environment: Run auto triggered tasks, data backfill tasks, and test tasks.
-
In Operation Center for the development environment: Run data backfill tasks and test tasks.
The Operation Center in the development environment does not support auto triggered tasks.
Billing metrics
Scheduling instance fees are calculated based on task instances. An instance is billable only if it meets both of the following conditions:
-
Submitted to the scheduling system: All instances generated by nodes and submitted to the scheduling system are billable, except for instances that are generated by virtual nodes. Billable instances include scheduled instances, manually triggered instances, test instances, and data backfill instances.
-
Successfully run: Only instances that run successfully in the Operation Center are billed. Instances that are generated but not run, have failed to run, are frozen, or are dry runs (i.e., the platform returns a success status without actually executing the task) are not billed.
Daily instance count example: Assume that a scheduling task runs every hour from 00:00 to 23:59 each day. This generates 24 instances per day. If all 24 instances run successfully, the billable count is 24.
Pricing
The shared resource group for scheduling has a usage limit. If the daily instance count reaches or exceeds 120,000, it may exceed the upper threshold, preventing instances from being scheduled. If your workload is large, use serverless resource groups to avoid this limit.
DataWorks uses a 12-tier billing model based on the number of instances that run successfully each day. DataWorks charges a fixed daily fee based on the tier that corresponds to the number of successful instances.
-
Billing cycle: Daily.
-
Billing granularity: Successful instances per day.
-
Free tier: DataWorks provides a free tier of 10 successful instances per day.

FAQ
-
Q: How do I calculate the fee for a single instance?
A: Scheduling instance fees use a tiered billing model. DataWorks calculates the total number of successful instances per day and charges a fixed daily fee based on the corresponding tier. Therefore, you cannot calculate the fee for a single instance or query bills by individual instance.
-
Q: How do I estimate the number of scheduling instances?
A: Go to the Operation Center to view the total number of scheduled instances in the lists for Scheduled Instances, Backfill Instances, Test Instances, and Manual Instances.
