Shared DataService Studio resource groups are billed on two dimensions:

Standard running time: The first 400,000 GB×s per user per month is free.
Accelerated running time: No free quota is provided.

Resource Access Management (RAM) users share the free quota of the parent Alibaba Cloud account. The free quota resets at the beginning of each calendar month and does not roll over.

The acceleration service is commercially billed starting March 1, 2023, in the China (Hangzhou), China (Shanghai), China (Beijing), and China (Shenzhen) regions. When you use shared DataService Studio resource groups, you are charged on a pay-as-you-go basis for API calls and accelerated running time.

Billing granularity

Billing is calculated per Alibaba Cloud account per region. Each region in an account is billed independently.

Pricing example

Assume you make 10 million API calls in a month, with 2 GB of memory allocated and each call running for 1,060 ms. Your monthly fees break down as follows:

API calls

The free quota covers the first 1 million calls, leaving 9 million billable calls.

The free quota includes 1 million API calls per month. Therefore, the number of billable calls for the month is 10 million - 1 million = 9 million. The price is CNY 1.33 per million calls. The total monthly fee for API calls is 900 / 100 × 1.33 = 11.97 CNY.

Billable calls: 10,000,000 - 1,000,000 = 9,000,000
Monthly fee:    9,000,000 / 1,000,000 x USD 0.21 = USD 1.89

Running time

Running time is measured in GB×s (memory in GB × duration in seconds). The minimum billing unit is 100 ms, so 1,060 ms is billed as 1,100 ms (1.1 seconds).

Your total running time = Number of calls × Memory consumed per call (GB) × Running time per call (seconds), which is 10,000,000 × 2 × 1.1 = 22,000,000 GB×s. The free quota includes 400,000 GB×s of running time per month. Therefore, the billable running time is 22,000,000 - 400,000 = 21,600,000 GB×s. The price per GB×s of running time is CNY 0.00011108. Your total monthly fee for running time is 21,600,000 × 0.00011108 = 2399.33 CNY.

Free quota:            400,000 GB×s
Billable running time: 22,000,000 - 400,000 = 21,600,000 GB×s
Monthly fee:           21,600,000 x USD 0.000017193 = USD 371.37

Total monthly fee = Monthly fee for API calls + Monthly fee for running time, which is 11.97 + 2399.33 = 2411.30 CNY.

USD 1.89 + USD 371.37 = USD 373.26

Billing cycle

Shared DataService Studio resource groups are billed hourly. At the start of each hour, the billing system calculates usage from the previous hour, generates a bill, and deducts the amount from your Alibaba Cloud account balance.

Overdue payments

If your account has an overdue payment, your service continues for 24 hours. You will receive notifications at the 12th and 23rd hours after the payment becomes overdue, reminding you to renew the service as soon as possible.

If the payment remains overdue for more than 24 hours, the service is suspended. You will not be able to call published APIs.
If you add funds to your account within 24 hours after the payment becomes overdue, the service is not suspended.
If your account has another overdue payment after you have cleared the previous one, the service is suspended 24 hours after the new overdue payment occurs.
Alibaba Cloud provides the extended suspension-free benefit. When a pay-as-you-go resource is overdue, you can continue to use cloud services for a certain amount or duration. Normal fees apply during the extended period. For more information, see Extended Suspension-Free Benefit.

Stage	Trigger	What happens
Overdue	Payment becomes overdue	Service continues normally. Reminder notifications are sent at the 192nd, 288th, and 336th hours after the payment becomes overdue.
Suspended	360 hours after payment becomes overdue	Service is suspended. Published APIs can no longer be called.
Restored	Payment cleared within 360 hours of overdue	Service is not suspended. Add funds to your account before the 360-hour deadline to avoid suspension.

If a new overdue payment occurs after you clear a previous one, the 360-hour grace period restarts from the new overdue date.
