This topic describes the quick setup process for Direct Mail (EDM) and provides answers to frequently asked questions.
Complete the Alibaba Cloud identity verification. The page displayed after you complete identity verification. Method 1: For users who have an Alibaba Cloud domain name or plan to purchase a new one (Recommended).
Click Agree to Authorize. If you do not have a domain name under your Alibaba Cloud account, you can purchase a new one. You must complete identity verification for the domain name. Check that the domain status is Normal. Select a domain name and click Generate Sender Address. This step may take 1 to 10 minutes to complete. Copy the sender address and SMTP password to Customer Connect. You can download the sender address and password for future use.
Go to the Direct Mail settings. Copy the sender address and SMTP password from Alibaba Cloud, paste them into the corresponding input boxes, and then click Save. Set the reply-to mailbox and sender name.
After the setup is complete, you can send broadcast marketing emails.
Enter the domain name to generate three configuration items. Go to your domain name provider and add the following three domain name resolution configurations. The configuration may take 1 to 10 minutes to take effect. Click the Refresh button to check the configuration status. Copy the sender address and SMTP password to Customer Connect. You can download the sender address and password for future use. Go to the Direct Mail settings. Copy the sender address and SMTP password from Alibaba Cloud, paste them into the corresponding input boxes, and then click Save. Set the reply-to mailbox and sender name. I have an Alibaba Cloud domain name. Why is it not in the drop-down list, or why do I see a "no domain name" message? |
Only domain names that meet both of the following conditions can be configured with a single click: 1) The domain status is Normal. 2) The domain name uses the Alibaba Cloud DNS service. If your domain name is from Alibaba Cloud but does not use the Alibaba Cloud DNS service, the configuration fails. In this case, go to the Direct Mail Settings page, select Method 2: For users who have a domain name from another service provider or do not use Alibaba Cloud DNS (Not recommended due to the complex configuration), and follow the steps to complete the configuration. |
The domain status is Normal and it uses Alibaba Cloud DNS. Why is the domain name still not displayed? |
Confirm whether it is a newly purchased domain name. The owner information for new domain names may take time to update. Check again after 12 hours. |
Associate the same sender address with multiple Alibaba Cloud accounts |
Because you can activate only one DM account per identity verification, we recommend that you use the same sender address for all your Alibaba Cloud International Website accounts. |
Why can't I send emails when my account has an overdue payment? Isn't there a free quota? |
If your account has an overdue payment, you cannot use the Alibaba Cloud Direct Mail service. This also makes the free quota unavailable. After you clear the overdue payment, the free quota is restored. For more information about the free quota, see the Free quota document. After the free quota is used, you are charged based on the number of emails sent. Two billing methods are available: resource plans and pay-as-you-go. DM account suspension |
This is caused by factors such as high bounce rates for marketing emails and numerous invalid email addresses. Send to subscribers only. |
I confirmed that the SMTP password is correct, but I still encounter errors. |
Try again 5 to 10 minutes after you reset the password. In rare cases, the Direct Mail delivery channel may require additional configuration from the Direct Mail service. |
