Billable items (DMS)

This topic describes the billable items for Data Management Service (DMS), including product types, billing methods, and pricing. It does not cover the billable items for Database Backup Service (DBS).

Notes

  • You cannot switch a DMS product's billing method between pay-as-you-go and subscription.

To use a subscription product, such as control mode or sensitive data protection, first unsubscribe from the pay-as-you-go product and then purchase the subscription product.

  • You cannot offset fees between DMS products with different billing methods and prices.

For example, if you purchase a pay-as-you-go product for security collaboration mode, you cannot offset its fees by purchasing a subscription product for security collaboration control mode.

FAQ

Q: Why am I being charged for a pay-as-you-go DMS product that I have not used?

A: Purchasing a pay-as-you-go product provisions a quota that incurs ongoing charges. If you no longer need the paid features, for example, after you release or delete an instance in DMS, you must manually unsubscribe or reassign the quota to another instance. DMS does not perform this action automatically. For specific instructions, see refund instructions.

Q: My bill shows a "DMS" billable item. What is this charge for?

A: The "DMS" billable item on your bill typically represents pay-as-you-go charges for DBS. These charges can include fees for backup storage capacity and CDM local disk storage capacity. If you enable instant database and table recovery (a paid feature), you also incur additional fees based on data volume. For a detailed breakdown of DBS billing, see Billable items (DBS).
