DNS record templates

Overview

DNS record templates let you add or modify the same DNS records for multiple domain names in batches.

Add a template

To add a template, enter a template name, then add records and record values.

Procedure

1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DNS - Public Zone console.

2. Click Batch Operation. By default, the Domain Name > Add Zones tab opens.

3. Click DNS Templates > Add Template.

4. Enter a descriptive template name, and click Next.

5. Click Add Hostname, select a Record Type, enter a Hostname and a Record Value, click OK, then click Next.

6. Click Back to return to the DNS Templates tab. Next to the target template, click Settings, enter a domain name, and click OK. The template's DNS records are then applied to the specified domain name.

   Warning

   This feature first deletes all existing DNS records for the specified domain names, including subdomains, and then adds the new records from the template.

Modify a template

Modify a DNS record template before applying it to domain names.

Procedure

1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DNS - Public Zone console.

2. Click Batch Operation. By default, the Domain Name > Add Zones tab opens.

3. Click DNS Templates, locate the target template, and click Edit in the Actions column. Modify parameters such as Record Type, Hostname, and Record Value, and click OK.

4. After modifying the record, use Settings to reapply the template to domain names.

Delete a template

Procedure

1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud DNS - Public Zone console.

2. Click Batch Operation. By default, the Domain Name > Add Zones tab opens.

3. Click DNS Templates, locate the target template, and click Delete in the Actions column to delete the template.
