Copy a product

You can copy an existing product and then edit the copy. This simplifies product development.

Background information

The following table describes the limits on copying a product.
Project Limits
Self-branded project You can copy the product to the current project, another existing project, or a new project.
Tmall Genie Ecosystem project You can only copy the product to the current project.

Copy a product in a self-branded project

Before you start, make sure a product exists in your project or an authorized project. For more information about how to create a product, see Create a product.

  1. Log on to the IoT Platform console.
  2. Go to the project that contains the product you want to copy.
  3. Select the product that you want to copy and click the 复制产品 icon.
  4. Select a destination project for the product.
    • Select Existing Project to copy the product to an existing project.
    • Select New Project and enter a name for the new project.
  5. Click OK.
    After the product is copied, the new product appears on the project homepage. The name of the new product ends with "-Copy".

Copy a product in a Tmall Genie Ecosystem project

Before you start, make sure a product exists in the Tmall Genie Ecosystem project. For more information about how to create a product, see Create a product.

  1. Log on to the IoT Platform console.
  2. Go to the project that contains the product you want to copy.
  3. Select the product that you want to copy and click the 复制产品 icon.
  4. Click OK.

    After the product is copied, the new product appears on the project homepage. The name of the new product ends with "-Copy".
