Create a product and configure an app

To connect a video device, you must first create a product on the Living IoT Platform and complete the product development.

Create a product

  1. Log on to the IoT Platform console.
  2. On the console homepage, click LinkVisual video service endpoint.

  3. On the Service Content tab, select a project name from the drop-down list, and click Quick Create Product in the Service Flow

  4. Configure the video product name, and select the product's Category, Specification, and Connection Method as needed.

    Video products are available in three categories: cameras, video doorbells, and peephole cameras. The camera category offers three specifications: IPC Consumer, IPC Industry, and NVR. The video doorbell and peephole camera categories offer two specifications: IPC Consumer and IPC Industry. The specifications are described as follows.

    • IPC Consumer: For connecting video surveillance cameras in personal consumer scenarios, such as home use.

      Cameras created with this specification do not connect to a gateway. The default connection method is Wi-Fi, but you can change it to cellular, Ethernet, or another connection type.

    • IPC Industry: For connecting video surveillance cameras in small and medium-sized business (SMB) scenarios, such as store or villa monitoring.

      Cameras created with this specification do not connect to a gateway. They connect using Ethernet by default, but the connection method can be changed to Wi-Fi, cellular, or another type.

    • NVR: For video access from Network Video Recorder (NVR) devices. An NVR is a gateway device.
      • Support for NVR specifications is limited to products in the camera category.
      • The NVR's network connection is limited to Cellular (2G/3G/4G).
      • The maximum number of channels for an NVR is 128.
      • After you create an NVR product, the system automatically creates an IPC camera product. This IPC product has a fixed Ethernet connection method and is connected under the NVR gateway node, as shown in the following figure.
        Important The automatically created sub-product has a mass production limit of 500,000 units. If you exceed this limit, you cannot continue mass production. After you create an NVR product, contact our business team with the ProductKey of the sub-product to adjust your production quota.
    Note Video products created without using the LinkVisual Video Service Endpoint also appear in the product list under Service Configuration. For these products, the Activation Code Type is set to None by default. You can switch the product to IPC (Consumer) or IPC (Industry). This change cannot be undone.

Define product features

  1. Click View Details to go to the product's Function Definition page.

  2. Add a Thing Specification Language (TSL) model based on your product's features.

    You can add standard features from the Standard Functions tab or define your own on the Custom Functions tab. For more information, see Define product features.

Configure human-computer interaction

  1. Click Next. On the Human-Computer Interaction page, configure the interaction parameters.
  2. Select an app version.
    • If you select the Cloud Intelligence App, enable the Use Public App to Control Product switch.
    • If you choose to develop your own branded app, keep the default setting.
  3. Configure the human-computer interaction. For more information, see Configuration overview.
    Human-Computer InteractionTo use the alerting feature, you must configure device alerts on the page and configure video alerting rules. For more information about how to configure device alerts, see Configure device alerts.

    When a video alert is triggered, the platform sends a message notification to the end user. Video alerting rules are divided into the following four types.

    • Cloud storage expiration alert

      Triggers an alert when cloud storage is about to expire. You can set the trigger time to 7 days, 3 days, or 1 day before expiration, or on the day of expiration.

    • Detection alert

      Triggers an alert when the AI detects changes, such as motion, sound, pets, line crossing, area intrusion, falls, human figures, faces, smiles, abnormal sounds, crying, or laughter.

    • Intelligent alerting

      Compared with detection alerts, intelligent alerting offers higher detection accuracy, supports reporting multiple alerts simultaneously, and detects a wider range of changes. Examples include object abandonment, crowd density estimation, illegal non-motor vehicle parking, and smoking detection. A total of 39 types of changes can be detected.

      Note To use this alerting rule, you must use Link Visual device-side software development kit (SDK) v1.4.0 or later.
    • Continuous cloud recording anomaly alert

      If an end user has purchased or received free cloud storage, an alert is triggered if continuous cloud recording experiences data loss for one hour or more.

    Note You can set video alert rules only for the following three types of IPC products created with the Quickly Create Product option in Service Center: Consumer IPC, Commercial IPC, and IPCs that are automatically created when you create an NVR.

    To configure video alerting rules, perform the following steps.

    1. On the Service Configuration tab, find your product in the list and click Configure in the Alert Message

      Configure the Alerting Rule as needed. For descriptions of the parameters, see Configure device alerts.

      Note
      • Unlike device alerts, video alert messages cannot be pushed to the Living IoT Platform console.
      • If you have configured detection alerts (AlarmEvent events) on the Human-Computer Interaction page, we recommend that you reconfigure them on the Video Alert Messages page. After you enable alerts on the Video Alert Messages page, disable the original alerts on the Human-Computer Interaction page to avoid receiving duplicate alert messages.

Add a test device

During the device development and debugging phase, you can use the free test device certificates that are provided by the platform to debug your devices. You can add up to 50 free test devices for each product. These certificates are for debugging only and cannot be used for mass production.

  1. Click Next. On the Device Debugging page, add a test device.
  2. Select the module information as required.
  3. Click Add Test Device. The Add Test Device dialog box appears.

    Note When you debug an NVR product, you must add one test device for the NVR and one for the directly connected IPC.
  4. Click OK. The activation credentials for the test device appear in the dialog box.
