Threat scenarios

The Threat scenarios module displays basic information about threats, such as the products involved and the threat level. It integrates the definition, scope, pre-checks, and execution of emergency plans, allowing you to create, edit, and trigger scenarios.

Create a threat scenario

  1. Log on to the High Availability Management Console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Risk Management > Threat Scenarios.

  3. Click Create. In the Create Threat Scenario panel, configure the following parameters:

    Threat scenario name

    Required

    A custom name for the threat scenario.

    Threat level

    Required

    Set a threat level to help manage and monitor threats. The available levels are High, Medium, and Low.

    Object type

    Required

    Select User Application, or Other.

    • If you select User Application, select the corresponding application scope.

    • If you select Other, enter the corresponding object name.

    Business impact

    Required

    A description of the business impact. For example, Affects the core transaction system.

    Emergency plan description

    Required

    A custom description of the emergency plan.

    Associated emergency plan

    Optional

    Select an emergency plan. For more information about how to create an emergency plan, see Create an emergency plan.

    Associated diagnostic decision tree

    Optional

    Select a diagnostic decision tree. For more information about how to create a diagnostic decision tree, see Create a new diagnostic decision tree.

    Add trigger

    Optional

    Select Inspection Rule or Monitoring Rule.

    • If you select Inspection Rule, select an associated rule. For more information about how to create an inspection rule, see Create a new rule.

    • If you select Monitoring Rule, enter an associated rule.

  4. After you finish the configuration, click Submit.

Execute risk scenarios

  1. In the navigation pane on the left, click Risk Management > Threat Scenarios.

  2. Find the threat scenario that you want to execute and, in the Actions column, click Trigger Scenario. Then, click Confirm.

    Note

    Alternatively, you can click the name of a threat scenario on the Threat Scenarios page to open its details page. In the upper-right corner, click Trigger Scenario and then click Confirm.

  3. On the Threat Scenario Details page, find the relevant threat and click Handle in the Actions column.

Related operations

  • To modify a threat scenario, find the scenario and click Edit in the Actions column. On the page that appears, make the required changes and click Confirm.

  • To delete a threat scenario, find the scenario and click Delete in the Actions column. In the dialog box that appears, click Confirm.
