Using a domain with an ICP filing

If a domain name already has an ICP filing with the MIIT, do you need to file again to build a website with this product?

If your domain name has a valid, unrevoked ICP filing with Alibaba Cloud, you do not need to file again. You can directly bind the domain name and configure its resolution in your website's admin console. For detailed instructions, see Bind a domain name and configure resolution.

If the ICP filing for your domain name was issued by another provider, you must transfer it to Alibaba Cloud. Once the transfer is approved, your domain name will resolve correctly. For instructions, see ICP Filing Process.

Finding your DNS provider's full name

You can perform a WHOIS query to find the full name of your DNS provider. This information may be required when filling out compliance forms.

  1. Go to the Alibaba Cloud WHOIS Query page.

  2. Enter your domain name and click Query.

  3. In the query results, check the registrar and DNS server fields to identify your DNS provider.

If the DNS server name ends in hichina.com (for example, dns1.hichina.com), the DNS provider's full name is Alibaba Cloud Computing Ltd. (formerly HiChina). You must use this exact full name where required, not abbreviations like "Alibaba Cloud" or "HiChina".
