If you use a subscription instance and anticipate high traffic during a specific period, such as for promotional events or data migrations, you can temporarily increase the instance's fixed public bandwidth for a continuous period. This helps you avoid unnecessary long-term costs. A single upgrade can last for up to six months, after which the bandwidth automatically reverts to its original value.

If your business requires periodic temporary bandwidth upgrades, such as from 18:00 to 22:00 every day or from 10:00 to 22:00 every Saturday, you can use CloudOps Orchestration Service. For more information, see Temporarily upgrade the fixed public bandwidth of a subscription instance (periodic).

Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure that the instance meets the following conditions:

The instance is a subscription instance.

The instance uses a fixed public IP address, and its fixed public bandwidth is billed on a pay-by-bandwidth basis.
Billing
-
During the temporary upgrade period, you can upgrade or downgrade the fixed bandwidth and change the billing method for public bandwidth from pay-by-bandwidth to pay-by-traffic.

If you permanently upgrade the bandwidth during this period, you are charged an additional fee on top of the temporary upgrade fee.

If you downgrade the fixed bandwidth or change the billing method from pay-by-bandwidth to pay-by-traffic, the temporary bandwidth upgrade is canceled and you are refunded for the upgrade.

A temporary bandwidth upgrade takes effect immediately after successful payment and does not require an instance restart. Once active, the upgrade cannot be separately canceled, and the upgrade period cannot be adjusted.

On the Change Bandwidth page, after you set the Public Bandwidth value and the Temporary Upgrade Time (including the start and end times), the estimated cost is displayed at the bottom of the page.
Notes

A temporary bandwidth upgrade does not change the existing public or private IP addresses of the instance.

If you upgrade the public bandwidth of an instance from 0 Mbps to a non-zero value, a public IP address is automatically assigned. When the upgrade period ends and the bandwidth returns to 0 Mbps, the public IP address is immediately released.

A temporary bandwidth upgrade does not increase the base public bandwidth of the instance. If you renew the instance before the upgrade period ends, the renewal is based on the original base public bandwidth.
The base public bandwidth is the amount you purchased when creating the instance or during a subsequent configuration upgrade.

You can only temporarily upgrade public bandwidth. Temporary downgrades are not supported.

Temporary bandwidth upgrades are not supported for BGP (Multi-ISP) Pro lines in the China (Hong Kong) region.

Bandwidth limit
The maximum bandwidth is 200 Mbps for the pay-by-bandwidth billing method.

Upgrade period
-
You can temporarily upgrade bandwidth only within the current billing cycle, and the end time of the bandwidth upgrade cannot be later than the instance's expiration date. If you have renewed the instance with a downgraded configuration in the current cycle, you must wait until the next billing cycle to perform a temporary upgrade.

The start time for a temporary bandwidth upgrade can be set to the minute, but the end time must be on the hour. The duration must be at least 3 hours and no more than 6 months. If you need a longer upgrade period, we recommend that you permanently upgrade the fixed bandwidth. For more information, see Modify the fixed public bandwidth of a subscription instance.

Limitations during the upgrade period

After a temporary bandwidth upgrade starts, you cannot change the billing method of a subscription instance or its subscription system disk to pay-as-you-go. However, you can change the billing method of a subscription data disk to pay-as-you-go.

To perform another temporary upgrade while one is active, the new bandwidth must exceed the current upgraded bandwidth.

Procedure
Go to ECS console - Instances.
In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region and resource group.

Click the ID or name of the target instance to open its details page. In the All Operations section, click Adjust Bandwidth.

In the Change Bandwidth dialog box, configure the temporary upgrade.

Operation: Select Temporarily Upgrade Bandwidth.

Fixed Bandwidth: Set a value greater than the instance's current bandwidth.

Time Period: The duration must be at least 3 hours and no more than 6 months.

Confirm the estimated cost, click Pay and Change Now, and complete the payment.
