Create an ECS instance

In an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) environment, applications are deployed to ECS instances. To deploy an application to an ECS cluster in Enterprise Distributed Application Service (EDAS), you must first create the required ECS instances.

Prerequisites

Before you create an ECS instance, you must determine the network type for the instance.

  • If you are purchasing an ECS instance for the first time after 17:00 (UTC+8) on June 14, 2017, you cannot select the classic network. You must select a virtual private cloud (VPC). ECS instances that use the classic network and were created before this time can still be used.

  • To create an ECS instance in a VPC, you must select a specific VPC. After an ECS instance is created, it cannot be transferred to another VPC. Make sure that you select the correct VPC for the ECS instance. If you do not have a VPC, create one first. For more information, see Create a VPC with an IPv4 CIDR block.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the EDAS console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Resource Management > ECS.

  3. On the ECS page, select a region from the top menu bar, select a microservices namespace, and then click Create Instance in the upper-right corner.

  4. On the ECS purchase page, purchase the required ECS instance. For more information, see Create an instance on the Custom Launch tab.

    Important

To use an ECS instance in EDAS, you must install the EDAS Agent on the instance. The EDAS Agent is automatically installed if you select the EDAS base image when you purchase the ECS instance.

    1. In the Image section, select Alibaba Cloud Marketplace Image, and then click Select from Alibaba Cloud Marketplace (Includes Operating System).

    2. In the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace dialog box, enter EDAS in the search box and click Search.

    3. In the search results, select EDAS JAVA Environment (Regular ECS) and a version. The latest version is selected by default. Then, click Use.

The instance creation process takes 1 to 5 minutes.

Verify the result

Click Management Console to return to the Elastic Compute Service console. Click the refresh image.png button. If the Status of the new ECS instance changes to Running, the instance is created successfully.
