When an application triggers an alert, start your investigation on the Notification History page. From here, filter and review alert records, drill into alert and event details, and take action -- claim, resolve, assign, or change severity.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure that you have:

  • The Alert Management feature is available only for Alibaba Cloud users who activated Enterprise Distributed Application Service (EDAS) after 00:00:00, April 30, 2021.

Open the Notification History page

  1. Log on to the EDAS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Application Management > Applications.

  3. On the Applications page, select a region, select a microservices namespace from the Microservices Namespace drop-down list, and then select ECS Clusters from the Cluster Type drop-down list.

  4. Click the name of the target application.

  5. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Alert Management > Notification History.

Filter and search alerts

The Alerts page lists all alert records for the selected application. Each row shows the alert severity, name, status, handler, and generation time.

Alert list

To narrow your results, specify one or more of the following filter parameters and click Search.

Parameter Description
Alert Name Name of the alert rule that generated the alert
Alert Status Unclaimed, Processing, or Resolved
Alert Level Default, P1, P2, P3, P4, or P5
Handled User assigned to handle the alert
Note

Click Settings to access additional filter parameters, including Notification Policy (the notification policy configured for the alert) and Created At (the time range when the alert was generated).

On the Alerts page, you can also:

  • Click the name of an alert to view the details of the alert. For more information, see View alert details.

  • Claim an alert in the Unclaimed state or handle an alert in the Processing state based on your business requirements. You can also assign the alert to a user or change the severity of the alert. For more information, see Handle alerts.

View alert details

Click an alert name to open the Alert Details page. This page shows the alert level, notification content, and current status.

Alert details

On the Alert Details page, you can claim an alert in the Unclaimed state or handle an alert in the Processing state. You can also assign the alert to a user or change the severity of the alert. For more information, see Handle alerts.

The page has three tabs:

Tab Information displayed
Details Alert generation time, the object that triggered the alert rule, the assigned handler, and notification recipients
Event Related alert events with their timestamps and statuses. Click an event name to drill down. See View event details.
Movable Notification activities for the alert
Event list Notification activities

View event details

Click an event name on the Event tab to open the Event Details page. This page shows basic information, monitoring data, and extended fields for the selected alert event.

Event details

In the Monitoring Data section:

  • Select a time window from the drop-down list to display data before and after the alert was triggered. Options: 6 hours, 12 hours, or 24 hours.

  • Use the mouse to select a time range to view the specific statistics in the specified time range. Click Reset to restore the original time range.

Handle alerts

In the ARMS console, you can claim an alert in the Unclaimed state, resolve an alert in the Processing state, assign it to another handler, or change its severity.

Link a DingTalk account

  1. In the DingTalk group, click View details on the alert card.

  2. In the Binding mobile phone number dialog box, enter your phone number and click Send Verification Code.

  3. Enter the verification code and click OK.

Set the alert handler

  1. Log on to the EDAS console and navigate to the Notification History page. For steps, see Open the Notification History page.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the Alerts page, select a user from the Handled By drop-down list.

Note

The handler name corresponds to the DingTalk account nickname. Because an Alibaba Cloud account can be shared by multiple users, set the Handled By parameter to specify who handles the alerts.

Take action on an alert

Click the action icons to the right of the alert, or click the alert name to open the Alert Details page. The following actions are available:

Action Description
Claim Assign yourself as the handler
Resolve Close the alert
More > Designate the alert handler Assign a DingTalk group contact as the handler
More > Modify Alert Level Change the alert severity
