This guide describes the TCP/UDP proxy feature of Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) and shows you how to configure it.
Configure TCP/UDP proxy application
The TCP/UDP proxy feature of ESA is ideal for applications that require low latency and high stability, such as real-time online games, interactive audio/video streaming, and remote office solutions. It provides network acceleration and security protection for TCP/UDP-based applications to ensure a low-latency and highly stable user experience.
Procedure
In the ESA console, go to Websites and click the target website in the Website column.
In the left navigation pane, choose .
Click Create Application and configure the parameters for your application.
Parameters
Access Configuration
Domain Name: The domain name (hostname or record) that clients use for access. This domain name is resolved to an accelerated IP address of ESA, which allows clients to send requests to the IP address by using a Layer 4 protocol.
Security
IP Access Rules: When enabled, Web Application Firewall (WAF) applies its IP access control rules to this TCP/UDP proxy application.
Proxy Rules
Protocol: Select the application's Layer 4 protocol.
Edge Port: The port on ESA edge nodes that receives client traffic.
Origin Server: The address of your origin server where ESA forwards traffic.
Origin Port: The port on your origin server.
Pass Client IP: Select a proxy protocol to pass the original client IP address and port information to your origin server.
For more information about configuring TCP/UDP proxy applications, see Layer 4 proxy configuration.
TCP/UDP proxy analytics
Use TCP/UDP proxy analytics to diagnose network performance issues, detect security threats, and troubleshoot connection failures. These analytics provide detailed traffic information to help you identify network bottlenecks, abnormal traffic patterns, and the root causes of service interruptions.
Procedure
In the ESA console, go to Websites and click the target website in the Website column.
In the left navigation pane, choose .
View TCP/UDP proxy logs
Use one of the following methods to view TCP/UDP proxy logs:
Real-time Logs: When you Create Delivery Task, set the log type to TCP/UDP Proxy Log. For more information, see Create a real-time log delivery task.
Standard Logs: On the Standard Logs page, set the log type to TCP/UDP Proxy Log. For more information, see Standard Logs.
