Set up a cloud computer
After you get a cloud computer, you must complete the initial setup before you can start using it.
Windows/macOS/Web client
Open the configuration page:
On the Order Successful page after payment, click Configure Cloud Computer.
On the Cloud Computer page, find the new cloud computer card and click Configure Now.

-
Select a setup method, and then click Next:
-
Set Up a New Computer: Start from scratch by choosing the operating system, performance mode, and pre-installed applications. Recommended for first-time users.
-
Saved Image: Quickly create a cloud computer from an existing image. Suitable for experienced users.
-
-
Follow the steps based on the setup method you selected:
Set Up a New Computer
Enter a Cloud Computer Name and select a Preferred Location, then click OK.
ImportantThe preferred location cannot be changed later. The system deploys your cloud computer to the nearest data center based on your selection.
-
Select the operating system to pre-install, and then click Next. The following operating systems are available:
Windows Server 2022: Compatible with most Windows software. Suitable for office work, development, design, and video editing. Windows 10, Windows 11, and Microsoft Store are not supported. Applications distributed through the Store (such as Codex) cannot be installed. If you need Windows 10 or 11, consider using EDS Enterprise Edition.
Linux Ubuntu 22.04: An open-source distribution ideal for development, DevOps, and machine learning.
Kylin 23.03: A domestic operating system for government and enterprise scenarios requiring domestic software compatibility.
Select a running mode, then click Next.
NoteThe running mode sets the compute resources (vCPU and memory) for each session — think of it as a performance tier. You can switch modes each time you start the cloud computer. Each mode consumes a different number of Lingdou per hour:
Economy (4 vCPU / 8 GiB): Web browsing, basic office work. 4 Lingdou/hour.
Smooth (8 vCPU / 16 GiB): Multitasking, light design. 8 Lingdou/hour.
Performance (16 vCPU / 32 GiB): Development, design, video editing. 16 Lingdou/hour.
Esports (12 vCPU / 46 GiB + 11 GiB VRAM): AAA gaming. 60 Lingdou/hour.
For the full rate table, see Cloud computer consumption rates.
If you need to run GPU-intensive workloads — AAA games, 3D rendering, or large model inference — you must select Esports mode. The other modes have no dedicated GPU and may cause poor performance or errors.
-
(Windows only) Select the applications to pre-install. Skip this step for other operating systems.
-
Click Finish Setup.
Saved Image
Enter a Cloud Computer Name and select a Preferred Location, then click OK.
ImportantThe preferred location cannot be changed later. The system deploys your cloud computer to the nearest data center based on your selection.
-
Select an existing image or enter an image code, and then click Next.
To get an image code, follow the instructions on the left side of the page.
-
Select a Performance Mode for the cloud computer, and then click Finish Setup.
NoteThe Performance Mode determines the computing resources (vCPU, memory) used each time the cloud computer starts. Think of it as selecting a "gear" for your cloud computer. You can switch between modes freely each time you power on, without repurchasing. Different modes consume different amounts of Wuying Credits per hour:
-
Economy (4 vCPUs / 8 GiB memory): Suitable for daily office work and web browsing. Consumes 4 credits per hour.
-
Standard (8 vCPUs / 16 GiB memory): Suitable for multitasking and light design work. Consumes 8 credits per hour.
-
High Performance (16 vCPUs / 32 GiB memory): Suitable for development, design, and video editing. Consumes 16 credits per hour.
-
Gaming (12 vCPUs / 46 GiB memory / 11 GiB GPU memory): Suitable for AAA games. Consumes 60 credits per hour.
For a full breakdown of credit consumption, see Cloud computer consumption rates.
If you want to run GPU-intensive workloads such as AAA games, 3D rendering, or large model inference, you must use Gaming mode, which provides a dedicated GPU. Other modes do not include a dedicated GPU and may cause these applications to run slowly or abnormally.
