An overdue payment occurs when your account balance, vouchers, and coupons fall below the amount due for Function Compute resources. Top up your account promptly to avoid service interruptions, and delete resources you no longer need.

Billing cycle

Function Compute resources are billed hourly. At the start of each billing cycle, the previous cycle's bill is generated and payment is automatically deducted from your account balance or vouchers. For details, see Billing overview.

How overdue payments affect your service

Function Compute handles overdue payments in two phases based on how long the payment remains outstanding.

Overdue for less than 7 days

All Function Compute services are frozen:

ComponentBehavior
On-demand instancesContinue processing in-progress requests, then stop. New requests are not accepted.
Provisioned instancesDeleted after in-progress requests complete.
Time triggersCannot trigger function executions in upcoming cycles.
Asynchronous invocation queueRequests are not processed. Unprocessed requests are discarded after 96 hours.

Reminder notifications are sent at the 12th, 24th, 48th, 72nd, 96th, 120th, 144th, and 167th hours after the overdue payment is generated.

Overdue for 7 days or more

Function Compute stops providing services. Requests and tasks are no longer executed. Your function code and configurations are retained.

Important

Settle overdue payments promptly to avoid business interruptions.

Note

Alibaba Cloud provides service suspension protection. If a pay-as-you-go resource has an overdue payment, you can continue to use the service for a specific period or up to a certain amount. Billing continues as normal during this period. For specific instructions and rules, see Service Suspension Protection.

The Function Compute policy for handling overdue payments is as follows.

  • If service suspension protection is not enabled, the policy for handling Function Compute overdue payments is as follows.

    • Overdue for less than 7 days

All Function Compute services are frozen. The details are as follows.

      • On-demand instances continue to execute functions that are already running, but will not run new functions or process new requests after the current executions are complete. Provisioned instances are destroyed after their requests are executed.

      • Time triggers will no longer trigger functions.

      • Processing of requests in the asynchronous invocation queue is paused. If the payment is overdue for more than 96 hours, unprocessed requests in the queue are gradually discarded.

In addition, service suspension reminders are sent at 12, 24, 48, 72, 96, 120, 144, and 167 hours after the payment becomes overdue.

    • Overdue for more than 7 days

Function Compute services are suspended. No requests or tasks are executed, but your function code and configurations are retained. To use Function Compute again, you must top up your account to clear the overdue payment.

  • If service suspension protection is enabled, the policy for handling Function Compute overdue payments is as follows.

    • If the overdue payment is within the protection period or amount, Function Compute services can be used normally.

    • If the overdue payment is outside the protection period or amount, the system starts counting the number of overdue days. The policies for payments that are overdue for less than 7 days and more than 7 days are the same as those that apply when service suspension protection is not enabled.
