This topic describes the basic terms related to Graphics Computing Service (GCS).
Rendering instance
A rendering instance is a collection of resources for real-time 3D rendering. It includes various computing resources and capabilities, such as CPU computing power, GPU computing power, memory, GPU memory, Elastic Block Storage, and networking. For more information about the resources, see Billing.
The computing power of a rendering instance is assessed using the industry-standard UNIGINE Superposition graphics benchmark. Resources with similar GPU and CPU computing power are grouped into rendering instances of the same specification. For more information about the computing power of each instance, see Billing.
Containerization
Containerization is a software development method that packages an application with its dependencies and configuration. This process isolates the application in its own container.
Rendering container
A rendering container is a computing container developed by Alibaba Cloud for real-time 3D rendering. It is compatible with Kubernetes management interfaces. It provides a real-time rendering environment and capabilities that support Unity and Unreal Engine 4/5.
RGC remote protocol
Remote Gaming Console (RGC) is a protocol developed by Alibaba Cloud for transmitting interactive video streams for real-time 3D rendering.
Computing power
The ability to perform computations.
GPU
A graphics processing unit (GPU) is a microprocessor optimized for image and graphics operations. It is suitable for scenarios such as large-scale parallel computing.
VM
A virtual machine (VM) is a complete computer system simulated by software. It has the functionality of a complete hardware system and runs in a fully isolated environment.
Real-time 3D rendering
Real-time 3D rendering is an important aspect of modern graphics programming for creating dynamic and interactive visual experiences in real time. It involves generating computer graphics in response to user interactions or real-world events and immediately rendering them on a display device.
VPC
A virtual private cloud (VPC) is a custom private network that you create on Alibaba Cloud. Different VPCs are logically isolated from each other. You can create and manage cloud resources, such as ECS, SLB, and RDS, within your VPC. For more information, see What is a VPC?.
