Storage address details

Intelligent Media Services supports storing media assets in Alibaba Cloud ApsaraVideo VOD or Object Storage Service (OSS).

Storage address type	Scenarios
Video on Demand (VOD) Storage	ApsaraVideo VOD (VOD) provides a one-stop audio and video solution that includes video storage, media asset management, and CDN playback. With assets stored in ApsaraVideo VOD, Intelligent Media Services (IMS) enhances its capabilities. You can use ApsaraVideo VOD APIs to quickly develop and launch your video services.
Object Storage Service (OSS)	OSS is an Alibaba Cloud storage service that provides massive capacity, high security, low cost, and high durability. You can combine IMS and OSS to build audio and video services for various scenarios.

Limits

You can add a maximum of 50 storage addresses.

Billing

Storage fees are charged by OSS or ApsaraVideo VOD (VOD), depending on the storage address you configure. For more information, see Media asset storage billing.

Prerequisites

Before you add an ApsaraVideo VOD storage address, you must activate ApsaraVideo VOD and enable its storage.

You can add VOD system buckets or your own OSS buckets managed by the VOD system. If no buckets are available, go to the ApsaraVideo VOD console to create one. ApsaraVideo VOD assigns a storage address to each storage region. After you activate the service, you must enable this address before you can use it. For more information, see Manage storage buckets.
Before you add an OSS address, you must activate OSS and create a bucket. For more information, see Create a bucket in the console.

Configure a storage address in the console

Log on to the Intelligent Media Services console.
In the navigation pane on the left, choose Configuration Management > Storage Management.
In the upper-left corner, select a Region.

Important
The storage region must match the service region for Intelligent Media Services. Otherwise, uploads will fail.
Click Add Storage Address. You can then choose to add an ApsaraVideo VOD storage address or an OSS storage address. You can create a maximum of 50 storage addresses.

In the Actions column, click an operation to manage the corresponding storage address.

Operation Type	Description
Modify	Modify the storage address. Only OSS storage addresses can be modified. VOD storage addresses cannot be modified.
Set as Default	Set a storage address as the default. If you have multiple storage addresses, this address is used as the default for services such as media asset upload and media processing.
Set as Temporary Folder	Designate a storage address for temporary files generated during video editing.
Remove	Remove the storage address. Important After you remove the address, it can no longer be used in Intelligent Media Services for uploads or media processing. Content already uploaded to this address is retained and remains accessible.
