Before you use ID², select an integration plan based on the ID² integration pattern and carrier type.
Determine the ID² integration pattern
Integration pattern | Scope | Description |
Self-managed IoT platform | Applies to self-managed servers that do not use Alibaba Cloud IoT Platform or its related platforms for device management and business integration. | Complete the server-side development. |
Third-party business system | Applies when a non-Alibaba Cloud platform is used as a server to manage IoT devices. | Complete the server-side development. |
Alibaba Cloud IoT Platform and related platforms | Applies when you use Alibaba Cloud IoT Platform or any Alibaba Cloud IoT system to manage IoT devices. This includes Smart Manufacturing, Smart Industry, Smart Living (IoT Platform), Smart Campus, Smart Habitat, Smart Agriculture, and other business systems from Alibaba Cloud IoT. | You can skip the server-side development step. |
Determine the ID² carrier type
The ID² carrier type of an IoT device determines the device-side integration method.
Carrier type | Description | Scope | Security |
SE | A secure chip. For more information, see ID² Secure Chip. | For IoT devices that are configured with a secure chip. | Highest. Supports Guomi algorithms. |
TEE | An IoT trusted execution environment (TEE). | For connected embedded devices. If a secure chip is not used, you can use a TEE to enhance device-side identity protection. | High |
KM | A sandbox security carrier. For more information, contact an Alibaba Cloud IoT security engineer for offline technical integration. | For MCUs, modules, or embedded systems. | Medium |
