Important considerations
-
If a component in your standard project under a public instance uses an API data source, reconfigure the API data source after upgrading to a lightweight application project. For more information, see APIs.
-
Dashboard components are not supported in lightweight application projects. These components will be lost after the upgrade. Proceed with caution.
Prerequisites
-
You have purchased a Cloud Gateway lightweight application instance. For more information, see Purchase a Cloud Gateway lightweight application instance.
You understand the overall migration process and important notes. For more information, see Migration process overview.
You have completed the business evaluation and system reconfiguration. For more information, see Preparations before migration.
Procedure
-
Log on to the IoT Platform application development console. In the upper-left corner of the page, select Public Instance, then click Project Management in the navigation pane on the left.
-
On the Project Management page, in the Standard Projects section, click Upgrade Now on the Upgrade to Lightweight Application Project card.
-
On the Upgrade Lightweight Application Project page, click Start Now and follow these steps.
The upgrade process has three steps: Select a lightweight application instance, Migrate project devices, and Upgrade project.
Step 1: Select a destination instance
-
In the Select Projects to Upgrade list, choose the project you want to upgrade.
-
In the Select Destination Lightweight Application Instance for Upgrade list, choose a lightweight application instance you have already purchased.
-
Click Next.
Step 2: Migrate project devices
Before starting the upgrade, use the IoT Platform instance migration tool to migrate devices associated with your project to the destination instance.
-
Click Go to Migration to go to IoT Platform and create a migration task.
To fully migrate data from a public instance to a lightweight application instance, complete these steps in order: create a migration task, perform grayscale migration, and perform full migration. For more information, see Instance migration procedure.
-
When the migration task status for a product changes to Migration Complete, the product data has been migrated to the lightweight application instance.
-
Return to the Migrate Project Devices page and click Next.
Step 3: Upgrade project
-
On the Upgrade Project page, select the I have read the upgrade instructions check box and click Start Upgrade.
-
The lightweight application project has been upgraded and migrated to the destination instance. Click View Upgraded Application or Return to Project List.
Roll back a lightweight application project
You can roll back an upgraded project based on your business needs.
-
Log on to the IoT Platform application development console. In the upper-left corner of the page, select Public Instance, then click Project Management in the navigation pane on the left.
-
On the Project Management page, in the Standard Projects section, click Upgrade Records on the Upgrade to Lightweight Application Project card.
-
On the Upgrade Records page, find the project you want to roll back and click Roll Back in the Operation column.
Step 1: Roll back project devices
-
On the Roll Back Project Devices page, click Go to Rollback to go to IoT Platform and roll back the migrated devices.
After the rollback completes, view the Device Rollback Status Monitoring section on this page. After confirming that device rollback is complete, click Next.
-
On the Migration List tab, click Roll Back in the Operation column of the migration task, then click Confirm. For more information, see Optional: Roll back a migration task.
After the rollback completes, all device data from this migration becomes invalid, and the migration task returns to the Pending Migration state.
-
Return to the Roll Back Project Devices page and click Next.
Step 2: Roll back project
-
On the Roll Back Project page, select the Rollback Instructions check box and click Start Rollback.
-
After a successful rollback, you are automatically redirected to the Upgrade Records page. The Upgrade Status of the rolled-back project changes to Rollback Complete.
