SMS management

The Alibaba Cloud IoT Mobile Connection Package provides an SMS management feature. You can use this feature to send and receive SMS messages and set SMS templates to remotely control devices or receive information from them.

Usage notes

  • The SMS management feature is currently supported only by newly activated China Mobile Internet of Things (IoT) SIM cards.

  • SMS messages can be sent only from port 1064899370168.

  • Before you can use the SMS management feature, you must purchase the Short Message Service.

  • Before you send SMS messages, you must request an SMS template. The template review takes three business days.

Send an SMS message

  1. Log on to the IoT SIM Service console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose SMS Management.

  3. On the Send SMS tab, click Add Send Task.

  4. In the Send Task dialog box, enter a rule name, select the sending port, select the SMS template, set the sending time, and upload a list of target MSISDNs. Then, click OK.

    Note

    The Rule Name cannot contain special characters and must be no longer than 30 characters.

  5. In the Send SMS list, you can view the task execution status. To view the sending results, click Download Result File in the Actions column.

  6. On the Send SMS tab, check the number of remaining messages. If the number of messages is insufficient, the SMS sending task fails. Click Purchase Now to purchase more messages.

Receive an SMS message

  1. Log on to the IoT SIM Service console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose SMS Management.

  3. On the SMS Management page, click the Receive SMS tab.

  4. On the Receive SMS tab, you can view the SMS messages sent from devices to port 1064899370168. The displayed information includes the message content and the sending time.

Request an SMS template

  1. Log on to the IoT SIM Service console.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, choose SMS Management.

  3. On the SMS Management page, click the SMS Template tab.

  4. On the SMS Template tab, click Request SMS Template. In the Request SMS Template dialog box, enter a template name and content, and then click OK.

  5. In the SMS Template list, you can view the status of your template request. After the request is approved, the template status changes to Active. You can then use the template to send SMS messages.

    Note

    The SMS template review takes three business days.
