ApsaraVideo Live accelerates live stream ingest and playback through CDN. To use these services, you must add a push domain for stream ingest and a play domain for stream playback. You can add both domain types in a single operation by configuring an associated domain (QuickAdd). This topic describes how to add accelerated domain names in the ApsaraVideo Live console.

Prerequisites

If your live activity targets audiences in mainland China, complete ICP filing for your domain name before adding it.

When you add a new domain to ApsaraVideo Live for the first time, you must verify domain ownership. For more information, see Verify domain ownership.

Procedure

Adding a domain name is a two-step process: fill in domain information, then obtain CNAME values.

Step 1: Fill in domain information

  1. Log on to the ApsaraVideo Live console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Domain Management.

  3. On the Domain Management page, click Add Domain.

  4. Configure the primary domain (required).

    ParameterRequiredDefaultDescription
Domain TypeYesIngest DomainSelect Ingest Domain for stream ingest or Streaming Domain for stream playback. A single domain cannot serve as both a push domain and a play domain. The domain type cannot be changed after the domain is added. If you need to change the domain type, delete the domain and add a new one.
DomainYesEnter the domain name to accelerate. Subdomains are recommended (for example, live.example.com). Wildcard domains (for example, *.aliyundoc.com) are not supported. When you move focus away from the field, the system validates the domain across four checks: (1) format, (2) ownership, (3) availability, (4) ICP registration (required when the acceleration region covers mainland China). If validation fails, an error message is displayed. Resolve the reported issue and try again.
Acceleration RegionYesGlobal (push domains); Mainland China (play domains)Select the geographic scope for CDN acceleration based on your target audience location: Mainland China, Global, or Overseas (excluding mainland China). When Push Domain is selected, the acceleration region is automatically set to Global.
  5. (Optional) Configure an associated domain (QuickAdd).

You can pair the primary domain with a domain of the complementary type in the same operation. If the primary domain is a push domain, the associated domain must be a play domain, and vice versa.

    ParameterRequiredDefaultDescription
Associated DomainNoSelect an existing unbound domain of the complementary type from the dropdown, or select Add Domain to enter a new domain name manually.
Acceleration RegionNoMainland ChinaEditable only when Add Domain is selected. Displays as read-only when an existing domain is selected.
  6. (Optional) Click Advanced Configuration to expand additional settings.

    ParameterRequiredDefaultDescription
Live CenterYesChina (South 1) - Shenzhen (cn-shenzhen); Singapore (ap-southeast-1) when Overseas is selectedThe region where media processing services such as recording, transcoding, and screenshots run. The live center of paired push and play domains must be in the same region. The live center cannot be changed after the domain is added. If you need to change this setting, delete the domain and add a new one. For information on selecting a live center, see Select a live center.
Resource GroupNoAssign the domain to an existing resource group.
    TagsNoAdd key-value tag pairs.
  7. Read and select the compliance declaration checkbox.

    Note

If the acceleration region is Global or Overseas, a cross-border data declaration dialog box appears. Review and confirm the declaration before the submission proceeds.

    Note

If the acceleration region is Global or Overseas, a data compliance confirmation dialog box appears. Review and confirm before the submission proceeds.

  8. Click Next.

    • If only the primary domain is configured, one domain is added.

    • If both the primary domain and an associated domain are configured, both domains are added simultaneously.

Step 2: Obtain CNAME values

After the domains are added, the page navigates to the Add CNAME Record page. A CNAME card is displayed for each domain that was added.

  • The CNAME value is generated asynchronously. While the system is generating the value, a loading animation and the message "It may take 1 minute to generate the CNAME value." are displayed.

  • If the CNAME value cannot be generated within approximately 10 minutes, the warning "CNAME retrieval timed out. Check later on the domain list." appears. You can find the CNAME value on the Domain Management page after the value is generated.

  • Click Configure CNAME on a CNAME card to open the CNAME configuration wizard for that domain.

Next steps

After you add a push domain and a play domain, configure CNAME resolution for the domains. For more information, see Configure CNAME Resolution.
