PrivateLink now supports cross-region connections.
Previously, an interface endpoint could connect only to an endpoint service in the same region. With this new feature, service consumers can use interface endpoints to privately access Alibaba Cloud services, partner services, or their own services across regions. This removes the need to configure cross-region VPC peering connections or Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) instances. It also means you do not expose data to the Internet. All service access traffic travels over the Alibaba Cloud private network. This provides a simpler and more secure way to connect across regions.
Function overview
Service provider
As a service provider, you can share services across regions. You can configure the regions where your service is supported. This allows service consumers in those regions to connect to your service. You do not need to deploy extra infrastructure in each region.

Service consumer
As a service consumer, you can securely access Alibaba Cloud services, partner services, or your own services over a private network. You do not need to configure cross-region VPC peering connections or CEN, or expose data to the Internet. These services are accessed through an interface endpoint with a private IP address in your VPC.
When you create an interface endpoint, enable the cross-region endpoint and select the service region. This lets you access the service from another region.
