JMeter environment management
JMeter environment management lets you manage cloud-based JMeter runtime environments, including both the official JAR packages bundled with JMeter and your custom JAR packages. You can use environment management to resolve issues caused by disorganized local environments that complicate bulk plugin uploads. It also helps you maintain dependency files for different versions, create scenario-specific environments, and establish standardized template environments to quickly create stress testing scenarios. This topic shows you how to create, view, and modify JMeter environments.
Create an environment
In Environment Management, you can create up to two JMeter environments.
- Log on to the PTS console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
- On the Environment Management page, click Create Environment in the upper-right corner.
- On the Create Environment page, enter an Environment Name and select a JMeter Version.
- Click Upload File to upload dependency files.Note You can upload a maximum of 80 files with a total size of up to 100 MB.
- Click Upload Properties File to upload a local properties file and configure JMeter properties.
- Click Save. The environment is created.
View and modify an environment
In Environment Management, you can view and modify an environment's name, JMeter version, and dependency files. You can also copy an environment.
- Log on to the PTS console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
- On the Environment Management page, click View in the Actions column. This opens the Create Environment page, where you can view or modify its dependency files.
- Optional: Click Copy in the Actions column to quickly duplicate the environment. The new environment name defaults to
EnvironmentName_Copy.Note Environment Management includes pre-configured template environments. These templates are read-only and cannot be deleted, but you can view and copy them.
Use an environment
After you create or modify an environment in Environment Management, you must select it in a JMeter stress testing scenario. Follow these steps:
- Log on to the PTS console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose , and then click JMeter Stress Test.
- On the Scenario Configuration tab, for the Use Dependent Environment option, select Yes to choose an existing environment from Environment Management, or No to select a JMeter version.
Custom properties
You can upload a properties file to a JMeter environment. PTS automatically parses the property names and values, which you can then edit.
- Log on to the PTS console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
- On the Environment Management page, click Create Environment in the upper-right corner.
- On the Create Environment page, click Upload Properties File to upload a local properties file.PTS scans the file and extracts the properties. You can then directly edit the Property Name, Property Value, and Property Description on the Create Environment page.
