ApsaraDB for Tair (Redis-compatible) introduces resource plans that help you save on eligible pay-as-you-go instances by covering part of their instance type costs.
Resource plan overview
The subscription billing method is generally the most cost-effective. If you plan to use your instances long-term, we recommend the subscription billing method.
If your business needs fluctuate, you can opt for a combination of pay-as-you-go and a resource plan. This approach provides the flexibility of pay-as-you-go billing while offering prices comparable to a subscription.

Renewal, upgrade, or downgrade | Resource plans cannot be renewed, upgraded, or downgraded. If a resource plan has insufficient capacity, is about to expire, or has expired, you can purchase a new resource plan. The capacity of new and existing plans is combined. |
Validity period | Each resource plan has a validity period of 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years. The 2-year validity period is available only for resource plans of 1,000 capacity units or more. Upon expiration, any remaining capacity is forfeited. |
Resource plan pricing and capacity
ApsaraDB for Tair measures resource plan capacity in Capacity Unit-Hours (CU*H). The standard price is CNY 21 per CU*H. ApsaraDB for Tair offers resource plans in three capacity tiers, offering deeper discounts for larger capacities. For plans in the same tier, a shorter validity period also offers a deeper discount.

This example uses a 1 GB standard master-replica Redis Community Edition instance in the China (Hangzhou) region:
Pay-as-you-go: The unit price is CNY 0.21 per hour. The monthly cost is CNY 0.21/hour × 24 hours × 30 days = CNY 151.2.
With a resource plan: The region deduction factor for China (Hangzhou) is 1. The instance type consumption factor for a 1 GB standard master-replica Redis Community Edition instance is 0.01. The monthly cost is: 1 (region deduction factor) × 0.01 (instance type consumption factor) × 24 hours × 30 days × the resource plan unit price.
Deduction rules for resource packages
A resource plan can be used to pay for the instance type fees for pay-as-you-go instances of classic Redis Community Edition or classic Tair (Enterprise Edition) under your account.
Consumption formula: Region Deduction Factor × Instance Type Consumption Factor (units/hour) × Usage Duration (hours)
For example, a 1 GB master-replica instance of Redis Community Edition in the China (Hong Kong) region has a deduction factor of 1.15 and an instance type consumption factor of 0.01 CU*H/hour. The CU*H consumed by the instance in 24 hours is calculated as follows: 0.01 (CU*H/hour) × 1.15 × 24 (hours) = 0.276 CU*H.
