Upgrade

Upgrade an SAG CPE or vCPE instance

Before you upgrade an instance, review the following information:

Effective time

Billing impact

Use cases

  • When you modify the peak bandwidth of an SAG CPE instance, you can only select a higher bandwidth specification.

  • For an instance that uses an SAG-100WM device, the maximum bandwidth is 50 Mbps.

  • For an instance that uses an SAG-1000 device, the maximum bandwidth is 500 Mbps, and the bandwidth can be increased only in increments of 5 Mbps.

Upgrades for SAG CPE and SAG vCPE instances are typically immediate. However, network conditions may cause a short delay.

To upgrade an SAG CPE or SAG vCPE instance, you must pay the price difference for the new peak bandwidth.

Upgrade your SAG CPE or SAG vCPE instance if its peak bandwidth no longer meets your business needs.

  1. Log on to the SAG console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region.

  3. On the Smart Access Gateway page, find the target instance and choose 更多图标 > Upgrade in the Operation column.

  4. On the configuration change page, modify the Peak Bandwidth of the SAG instance, read and agree to the terms of service, and then click Buy Now and complete the payment.

Temporary upgrade

Warning

When a temporary upgrade expires, the automatic rollback to a lower bandwidth may cause a transient interruption. This can lead to traffic throttling and dropped packets. Proceed with caution.

Before you temporarily upgrade an instance, review the following information:

Limitations

Effective time

Use cases

Temporary upgrades are available only for SAG CPE and SAG vCPE instances.

After a temporary upgrade, the new peak bandwidth usually takes effect immediately. However, network conditions may cause a short delay.

A temporary upgrade is ideal for scenarios such as large-scale sales promotions or online events during holidays. You can use this feature to temporarily increase the peak bandwidth of an SAG instance. After the upgrade period ends, the instance automatically reverts to its original bandwidth specification. The rules for temporary upgrades are as follows:

  • The minimum duration for a temporary upgrade is 1 hour. Billing is hourly. The new bandwidth is effective immediately after payment, and the upgrade is non-disruptive.

  • At the specified restore time, the bandwidth automatically reverts to its previous specification. This restoration is non-disruptive but can cause a transient interruption. We recommend that your backend applications include a reconnection mechanism.

  • You can set the restore time up to one day before the SAG instance expires.

For example, if your SAG instance expires at 00:00:00 on November 18, 2021, the latest restore time you can set is 00:00:00 on November 17, 2021.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the SAG console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region.

  3. On the Smart Access Gateway page, find the target instance and choose 更多图标 > Temporary Upgrade in the Operation column.

  4. On the Temporary Upgrade page, configure Peak Bandwidth and Restore Time, read and agree to the terms of service, and then click Buy Now and complete the payment.
