Purchase a savings plan to reduce your costs for the pay-as-you-go compute, cache, and storage resources of ApsaraDB for SelectDB. This topic describes what a savings plan covers and how it works.
Savings plan
An ApsaraDB for SelectDB savings plan is a discount program offered by Alibaba Cloud.
You commit to a specific spending amount for a one-year period. The system then calculates a total deductible amount based on your commitment. This deductible amount is used to cover the bills for the pay-as-you-go compute, cache, and storage resources of your ApsaraDB for SelectDB instances.
If the total deductible amount is not fully used by the end of the one-year term, the remaining balance expires.
If the total deductible amount is used up before the one-year term ends, subsequent pay-as-you-go bills for compute, storage, and cache resources are charged directly to your account.

Deductible items
All billable items for pay-as-you-go ApsaraDB for SelectDB instances are covered. This includes compute resources, cache, and storage resources.
For subscription ApsaraDB for SelectDB instances, the savings plan covers the pay-as-you-go fees for storage resources.
For ApsaraDB for SelectDB elastic clusters, the savings plan covers the pay-as-you-go fees for compute resources and cache.
Deductible amount
The committed spending amount does not directly cover your pay-as-you-go bills. The deductible amount, which is calculated from the Committed spending amount and the discount, is used to cover your pay-as-you-go bills.

Deduction examples
Assume that you purchase an ApsaraDB for SelectDB savings plan. The Committed spending amount is CNY 34,000. The deductible amount that can be applied to your pay-as-you-go bills is CNY 40,000 (34,000 / 0.85).
Scenario A: You have a pay-as-you-go ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance in the China (Hangzhou) region. It consistently uses 10 CCUs, 100 GB of cache, and 200 GB of storage space per hour. The hourly fee is CNY 3.62 (CNY 0.335/CCU/hour × 10 CCUs + CNY 0.0021/GB/hour × 100 GB + CNY 0.0003/GB/hour × 200 GB). This fee is deducted from the deductible amount. At the end of one year, a total of CNY 31,711.2 is deducted from the deductible amount (CNY 3.62/hour × 24 hours × 365 days). The remaining CNY 8,288.8 expires because the savings plan term ends.
Scenario B: You have a pay-as-you-go ApsaraDB for SelectDB instance in the China (Hangzhou) region. It consistently uses 20 CCUs, 100 GB of cache, and 200 GB of storage space per hour. The hourly fee is CNY 6.97 (CNY 0.335/CCU/hour × 20 CCUs + CNY 0.0021/GB/hour × 100 GB + CNY 0.0003/GB/hour × 200 GB). This fee is deducted from the deductible amount. The deductible amount of the savings plan is expected to be fully consumed around day 240 (CNY 40,000 / (CNY 6.97/hour × 24 hours)). After that, subsequent bills are charged directly to your account.
Notes
Savings plan term: One year.
Savings plans do not support renewal or configuration changes. After a plan expires, you can purchase a new one. You can also purchase multiple plans to stack their benefits.
