Alibaba Cloud service quotas apply to a specific account and region. They include general quotas, API rate limits, and privilege quotas.

  • A general quota defines the maximum quantity of a cloud resource that an Alibaba Cloud account can use.

  • An API rate limit restricts the frequency at which an Alibaba Cloud account can call the API of a cloud service. This is also known as a queries per second (QPS) limit.

  • A privilege quota grants an Alibaba Cloud account permission to use a specific feature, such as an allowlisted feature.

To view your quotas or request a quota increase, log on to the Quota Center console or the Quota Management page in the Server Load Balancer console.

Create a quota alert

You can create an alert for an NLB quota and set a threshold based on either used or remaining quota. When the threshold is reached, the system sends a notification to a specified webhook address using an HTTP POST request. This alert allows you to request a quota increase in time to prevent business interruptions.

Create alert in Quota Center

  1. Log on to the Quota Center console.

  2. Use one of the following methods to create a quota alert:

    • Method 1: On the Products with General Quotas page, find the Networking section and click Network Load Balancer, which opens the General Quotas page.

    • Method 2: In the left-side navigation pane, click Alarm Rules. On the Alarm Rules page, click Create Alarm Rule. On the General Quotas page, select Network Load Balancer.

  1. On the General Quotas page, find the desired quota and click Create Alarm Rule in the Actions column.

  2. In the Create Quota Alert panel, configure the alert. You will receive a notification when usage reaches the specified threshold. For more information, see Create a quota alert.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Alarm Rules to view the alert that you created.

On the Alarm Rules page, you can view, modify, or delete your alerts.

  4. (Optional) View the alert callback result.

If you configured an alert callback, you can view the callback records and automated quota increase requests after the callback is successful.

    1. In the left-side navigation pane, click Alert History to view alert callback records.

If Callback appears in the Notification Methods column for an alarm history record, it indicates a successful callback.

    2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Application Records to view automated quota increase requests.

Create alert in the Server Load Balancer console

  1. Log on to the Quota Management page of the Server Load Balancer console.

  2. On the Quota Center page, click the NLB tab.

  3. Set Quota Type to General Quota, find the desired quota, and then click Create Alarm Rule in the Actions column.

  4. In the Create Quota Alert panel, configure the alert. You receive a notification when the usage reaches the threshold.

  5. In the Actions column of the target quota, click Alarm Rules.

  6. On the Alarm Rules page, you can view details of the alert.

Create a quota template

After you enable a quota template, it automatically submits quota increase requests for any new member added to your Resource Directory by a management account. Existing members are not affected. Quota templates allow you to request multiple quota increases at once, improving the efficiency and automation of quota management across your organization.

Before you create a quota template, ensure the following requirements are met:

Create and apply template in Quota Center

  1. Log on to the Quota Center console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Quota Templates. On the Quota Templates page, click Enable Quota Template.

  3. In the Enable Quota Template dialog box, click OK.

If quota templates are already enabled, skip this step.

  4. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Products > General Quotas.

  5. On the Products with General Quotas page, find the Networking section and click Network Load Balancer.

  6. On the General Quotas page, find the desired quota and click Create Quota Template in the Actions column.

  7. In the Create Quota Template dialog box, set the Applied Quotas value, and then click OK.

Apply template in the Server Load Balancer console

  1. Log on to the Quota Management page of the Server Load Balancer console.

  2. On the Quota Center page, click the NLB tab.

  3. On the NLB tab, find the desired quota and click Create Quota Template in the Actions column.

  4. In the Create Quota Template dialog box, set the Applied Quotas value, and then click OK.
