What do I do if the "SourceServer.ImportError" error message appears?
The SourceServer.ImportError error occurs when SMC cannot reach or authenticate to your migration source. The resolution depends on whether the source is a physical server, VM, cloud server, or an ECS instance.
Problem description
The SourceServer.ImportError error appears in the Server Migration Center (SMC) console when importing information about a migration source.
Cause
Physical server, VM, or cloud server: If the error contains no specific error code, the source server likely cannot access the Internet or does not support remote logon over SSH.
Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance: Cloud Assistant Agent is either not installed or not running correctly on the ECS instance.
Solution
Follow the steps for your migration source type.
-
Physical server, VM, or cloud server
Verify that the source server can access the Internet. For example, confirm that the server can reach
https://www.aliyun.com.-
Verify that the source server supports remote logon over SSH.
If the source server runs Windows, install OpenSSH first. For installation instructions, see the How do I install the OpenSSH service on a Windows server? section of the "FAQ" topic.
After OpenSSH is installed, use an SSH client to log on to the migration source using the SSH username and password over the public IP address and port number.
-
ECS instance
Check whether Cloud Assistant Agent is installed on the ECS instance. For installation instructions, see Install the Cloud Assistant agent.
If Cloud Assistant Agent is installed but not running correctly, resolve the status anomalies. For details, see Cloud Assistant status and troubleshooting.
After completing these steps, retry the migration source import in the SMC console. If the import still fails, use the CLI or the SMC client instead. For more information, see Import the information about a migration source by using the CLI and Import the information about a migration source by using the SMC client.
