Renewal policy

Updated at:

If a resource plan expires or your account has an overdue payment, you cannot use ApsaraVideo VOD. To avoid service interruptions, renew your plan or top up your account in a timely manner.

Top up your account

After activation, ApsaraVideo VOD uses pay-as-you-go billing by default. If a resource plan expires or is fully consumed, billing automatically switches to pay-as-you-go. Because pay-as-you-go is a post-paid billing method, maintain enough account balance to avoid service suspension due to overdue payments.

To top up your account:

  1. Log on to the ApsaraVideo VOD console.

  2. In the top menu bar, click Expenses to open the Expenses and Costs home page.

  3. On the home page, in the Account Balance area, click Deposit/Remittance.

  4. Enter the top-up amount and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the payment.

Purchase a new resource plan

  • Method 1: Renew

Only ApsaraVideo VOD storage plans can be renewed. For other types of resource plans, you must purchase a new plan before the current one expires. For more information, see Renew a resource plan.

  • Method 2: Purchase

All ApsaraVideo VOD resource plans can be stacked. Purchase a new resource plan before your current one expires or is fully consumed. After the purchase, no further action is required and your services will not be affected. To purchase a resource plan: Click to purchase

Note
  • A new resource plan takes effect automatically after purchase, but there may be a delay.

  • You can set a quota alert for your resource plan to prevent resource shortages. For more information, see View resource plan details.

Renew the license for ApsaraVideo Player SDK or Short Video SDK

Renew your license before it expires to prevent service interruptions. Two situations may prevent you from renewing directly from the License Management page:

  • Empty instance ID — The instance ID column for the order on the License Management page is empty.

  • Console error during renewal — A red error message appears at the bottom of the renewal page: Order configuration parameters do not meet validation criteria. Please reconfigure the product! This prevents you from completing the renewal by clicking Buy Now.

If you encounter either situation, purchase a new license and bind it to your application, or submit an Alibaba Cloud ticket for renewal.

In most cases, renew your license directly from the License Management page (Method 1). Use Method 2 if you received a complimentary license by consuming resources or purchasing a designated subscription package. Use Method 3 if the instance ID of your license order is empty or a console error occurs during renewal.

Method 1: Renew from the License Management page (recommended)

Renewal applies to the entire license order. If your license order includes multiple SDK entitlements, all of them are renewed together. You cannot change the configuration during renewal. If you have questions, submit an Alibaba Cloud ticket.

  1. Go to the My Authorizations page in the ApsaraVideo VOD console.

  2. Select the License Management tab, find the instance ID that is bound to the target application, and click Renew in the Actions column.

If the instance ID is empty or an error occurs in the console during renewal, use Manage licenses or submit an Alibaba Cloud ticket for renewal.

  3. On the renewal management page, click Renew in the Actions column. You are redirected to the Expenses and Costs > Renewals page. On the Manual Renewal tab, find the target ApsaraVideo MediaBox instance and click Renew in the Actions column.

  4. On the ApsaraVideo MediaBox renewal page, confirm your current configuration and the renewal duration, and then click Buy Now to complete the renewal.

(Recommended) Enable auto-renewal to prevent expiration.

Method 2: Renew through resource plan purchase

If you have received a complimentary license by consuming resources or purchasing a designated subscription package, you must bind the new license before your current one expires. Follow the instructions in Step 3: Bind a license to avoid service interruptions from failed SDK calls in production.

Method 3: Purchase a new license and bind the application

After the purchase, follow the instructions in Step 3: Bind a license to prevent service interruptions.
