Learn how to collect logs and run network diagnostics for the VMware virtual machine (VM) backup client without logging in to the Cloud Backup gateway.

Prerequisites

A VMware VM backup environment is required. For more information, see Preparations (On-premises VMware environment).

Background information

  • Log collection gathers diagnostic data from the VMware VM backup client. You can analyze this data to quickly identify and locate issues, which improves operations and maintenance efficiency.

  • Network diagnostics for the VMware VM backup client provides real-time information about network connectivity to help you identify and resolve connection problems.

VMware VM backup client log collection

To collect logs without logging in to the Cloud Backup gateway, follow these steps:

  1. Open a browser and enter http://IP address of the disaster recovery gateway:8011 in the address bar.

  2. In the upper-right corner, click Diagnostic. The Diagnostic dialog box appears.

  3. Select Log Collection > Download Logs. In the diagnostic dialog box that appears, select the Log Collection tab, and click Download Logs to download the log file.

VMware VM backup client network diagnostics

To run network diagnostics without logging in to the Cloud Backup gateway, follow these steps:

  1. Open a browser and enter http://IP address of the disaster recovery gateway:8011 in the address bar.

  2. In the upper-right corner, click Diagnostic.

  3. Select Network Diagnostics > Run Check.
