ZHIMAITECH's QMAI platform partnered with Database Autonomy Service (DAS) to unify management across a heterogeneous database fleet, reduce SQL-related outages, and automatically restore services within minutes during traffic spikes.

Customer profile

ZHIMAITECH, founded in 2009, builds operations solutions for offline merchants in the catering and retail industries. Its platform, QMAI, is accessible as a mini program and covers a range of merchant scenarios: membership marketing, QR code-based ordering, reservation, QR code-based purchasing, in-store pickup, self-operated takeout, and other marketing scenarios. QMAI helps merchants grow private-domain traffic and deliver an omnichannel retail experience.

Challenges

As QMAI's merchant base grew, three database management problems emerged:

  • Heterogeneous database fleet: QMAI operates a large number of databases of different types, making centralized monitoring and management difficult.

  • Complex SQL statements: Poorly optimized SQL caused intermittent database unavailability, directly impacting merchants and their customers.

  • Traffic spikes: Sudden surges in user activity drove database workload to the point of downtime.

Solutions

DAS addressed each challenge with targeted capabilities:

  • Centralized visibility: DAS manages multiple database instances of different types from a single interface. Using monitoring dashboards and the Inspection and Scoring feature, the QMAI team can quickly identify abnormal instances without switching between tools. For more information, see Inspection and Scoring and Monitoring dashboards.

  • Root cause analysis: The 24/7 anomaly detection feature continuously monitors database behavior using machine learning. When a performance problem occurs, DAS identifies the root cause, locates the specific SQL statements responsible, and optimizes them automatically. For more information, see 24/7 anomaly detection.

  • Automated recovery: When DAS identifies the SQL statement causing an exception, it throttles the problematic request within three minutes — restoring affected services without manual intervention.

Benefits

  • Centralized database management: DAS connects to databases deployed across different environments and types, giving QMAI a single control plane for its entire fleet.

  • DBA-level diagnostics: DAS provides diagnostic capabilities comparable to those of a professional database administrator (DBA), enabling QMAI to detect and address risks before they affect merchants.

  • Autonomous recovery: 24/7 anomaly detection combined with automatic throttling restores services within three minutes — no manual intervention required.

  • Secure, stable platform: DAS provides a reliable foundation for QMAI's database autonomy needs.

Customer feedback

"DAS helps QMAI manage various types of databases in a centralized manner. The autonomy services provided by DAS are used to troubleshoot issues and restore database instances at the earliest opportunity. This way, the challenges that QMAI faces are overcome." — CTO of QMAI
