In DataWorks, a governance unit groups one or more workspaces. This lets you centrally track health scores, governance items, and check item events across all member workspaces. Workspace members can view management and governance reports for their assigned governance units to quickly identify and resolve issues. This topic describes how to create and view governance units.

Background information
Typically, workspaces are grouped into governance units based on business categories. A workspace can belong to multiple governance units. All members of a workspace can view management and governance reports for their assigned units, helping them quickly find and resolve pending governance issues.
Permissions

To create, edit, or delete a governance unit, you need one of the following permissions:

Regular users can only view governance units.
Create a governance unit
Go to the Data Asset Governance page.
Log on to the DataWorks console. In the top navigation bar, select the desired region. In the left-side navigation pane, choose . On the page that appears, click Go to Data Asset Governance.

In the left-side navigation pane, choose to go to the Governance Unit page.

Click Create and configure its parameters.

Name
The name of the governance unit.
Description
The description of the governance unit.
Workspace
Select the DataWorks workspaces to include in the governance unit to centrally track their health scores, governance items, and check item events. Group workspaces of the same business category into the same governance unit. This simplifies finding and troubleshooting similar issues.
NoteOnly workspaces for which you have the Workspace Administrator role are listed.
Contact
The person responsible for managing the governance unit.

Click Confirm to create the governance unit.
Manage governance units
On the Governance Unit page, you can filter units by Name or Workspace. The list displays the Name, Description, Workspace, Contact, Created By, and Created At for each unit. To edit or delete a unit, use the options in the Actions column.

The search by Name supports fuzzy matching. Entering a keyword displays all governance units whose names contain the keyword.
