A product represents a collection of similar devices. All devices within the same product share the same features. You can create multiple products in each project. After you create a product, you must define its features. This process abstracts the physical device into a data model that includes properties, services, and events. This abstraction simplifies cloud management and data exchange.
Prerequisites
You must create a project first. For more information, see Create a project.Step 1: Create a product
- Log on to the IoT Platform.
- Select a project to open its homepage. Click Create New Product.
- Configure the product parameters.

This example shows how to create a Wi-Fi smart plug. The following figure shows the parameter settings.
- Click Confirm to create the product.
After the product is created, the Feature Definition page for the product opens.
Step 2: Define product features
The platform provides default standard features for each product category. After you create a product, the Feature Definition page opens and automatically displays these default features.
If the default features meet your needs, click Next and skip the following steps.
If the default features do not meet your needs, you can add or modify features as follows.
- On the product's Feature Definition page, click Add Feature in the Standard Functions section.
- In the Select Features area on the left, click a feature type. The system automatically adds it to the Selected Features area on the right.
Note If the standard features for this category do not meet your needs, search for similar features in Other Types. If you still cannot find a suitable feature, you can create a custom feature. For more information, see Add a custom feature. - Click OK to confirm the selected feature properties.
