What is ApsaraDB for MyBase

ApsaraDB for MyBase is a dedicated cluster database service built for enterprises that need direct control over the underlying infrastructure. Unlike standard managed database services where the host is fully abstracted, MyBase gives you OS-level access, custom resource scheduling, and the ability to deploy multiple database instances on hosts you control.

If you need a fully managed database with no infrastructure responsibility, use ApsaraDB RDS. If you need dedicated cloud infrastructure with OS access and flexible resource management across multiple database instances, MyBase is the right choice.

Prerequisites

Before you read this topic, make sure that you are familiar with the following concepts:

How it works

A MyBase deployment is organized as a dedicated cluster containing one or more hosts. Each host is either an Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance from the i2 instance family or an ECS Bare Metal Instance. You can create multiple dedicated clusters within a region, and deploy multiple database instances on each host.

MyBase manages resource allocation across the cluster. You configure an overcommit ratio for CPU, memory, storage, IOPS, and network traffic — letting you maximize host utilization while isolating workloads at the instance level.

MyBase supports multiple databases, such as MySQL and Redis. Its features include dedicated cloud resources, resource overcommitment, self-service operations and maintenance (O&M), and the ability to grant partial database and OS permissions. This service combines the convenience and flexibility of cloud database services with the database compliance and security features required by enterprises.

Features

Resource scheduling

Set an overcommit ratio for each resource type (CPU, memory, storage, IOPS, and network traffic) to maximize host utilization. MyBase schedules instance workloads across the cluster based on your configuration.

Host management

Add, replace, or connect to hosts at any time. Control which hosts are eligible to receive new instance allocations — useful when you need to reserve capacity or perform maintenance without disrupting running instances.

Instance management

Manage the full lifecycle of primary instances, secondary instances, read-only instances, and logger instances from a single interface.

Supported database engines

MyBase supports MySQL and SQL Server.

Engine Supported editions
MySQL High-availability Edition (MySQL 5.6, 5.7, 8.0); Master-replica Edition (MySQL 5.7, 8.0)
SQL Server High-availability Edition (SQL Server 2012 through 2019, Standard and Enterprise editions); Basic Edition (SQL Server 2012 through 2019, Standard, Enterprise, and Web editions); Cluster Edition / AlwaysOn (SQL Server 2017 Enterprise and 2019 Enterprise)

Redis

  • Community Edition: Redis 5.0, Redis 6.0

  • Enterprise Edition (Enhanced Performance): Redis 5.0

For the full version and edition matrix, see Instance types.

Billing

MyBase charges only for the hosts you create and the enhanced SSDs (ESSDs) you use. Dedicated clusters, instances, memory, and local SSDs are not charged separately.

For details, see Billing.
