1. Service overview

1.1. Service description 

Cloud computing and cloud-native databases are experiencing rapid growth. As more companies adopt ApsaraDB, they are looking to transition their traditional commercial databases to the cloud. This transition requires best practices for cloud databases and proven methods for transforming and migrating commercial databases to cloud-native ones. The Alibaba Cloud database delivery and architecture team offers a consulting service to facilitate the migration of Oracle databases to the cloud. This service provides comprehensive consulting for your database system's cloud adoption plan, including database selection, architecture design, compatibility assessment, transformation suggestions for databases and applications, and the creation of a detailed migration plan. We validate the proposed plan based on your specific needs and provide product technology consulting and support throughout the validation process. Our database delivery and architecture team possesses deep expertise in IT system architecture, database technology, and migration techniques. We have accumulated extensive best practices for system cloud adoption, Oracle-to-cloud transformations, and cloud database design and optimization. This expertise provides a strong technical service guarantee for your IT system's cloud transformation.

2. Scope of service

The service is available in two editions: High-Compatibility and General-purpose. The deliverables for each edition can be customized based on your needs.

2.1. High-Compatibility Edition scope of service

The High-Compatibility Edition includes the following services:

• Business system status survey

• Database system survey, information collection, and evaluation

• Capacity planning and architecture design for PolarDB for Oracle

• Compatibility analysis and transformation suggestions

• Database migration plan design

• Transformation and migration plan validation for one sample application

Note: A "sample application" is defined as one application built on a single Oracle instance. The instance must contain fewer than 100 business tables and have a data volume of less than 100 GB. If these limits are exceeded, you must purchase an additional Premium Implementation Support service.

2.2. General-purpose Edition scope of service

The General-purpose Edition includes the following services:

• Business system status survey

• Database system survey, information collection, and evaluation

• Capacity planning and architecture design for RDS for MySQL

• Compatibility analysis and transformation suggestions

• Database migration plan design

• Transformation and migration plan validation for one sample application

Note: A "sample application" is defined as one application built on a single Oracle instance. The instance must contain fewer than 100 business tables and have a data volume of less than 100 GB. If these limits are exceeded, you must purchase an additional Premium Implementation Support service.

2.3. Service boundaries

The service boundaries are as follows:

• Within this consulting package, Alibaba Cloud provides solution design only within the agreed-upon scope. We will assist in validating the solution using one sample business system. You are responsible for completing any system transformation or migration that falls outside this scope.

• For both editions of the consulting package, Alibaba Cloud does not perform specific code modifications or implementations. You or your developers are responsible for these tasks.

• Alibaba Cloud provides technical solutions and support based exclusively on Alibaba Cloud databases and related tool platforms. If you use third-party software or application systems, Alibaba Cloud can only provide suggestions. We do not offer implementation or guarantee services for third-party products.

• This solution supports only Alibaba Cloud database services and does not support self-managed databases on the cloud.

• This service does not include Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services for cloud databases.

3. Prerequisites

• You must request this service at least 10 working days in advance. This allows Alibaba Cloud to evaluate your business goals, assess the feasibility of your timeline, and confirm acceptance of the service request.

• You must promptly provide Alibaba Cloud with all necessary documents, information, data, charts, system permissions, and remote access channels required to deliver the service. All information provided is subject to the confidentiality clauses of this agreement. You agree that all information you disclose to Alibaba Cloud is true, accurate, and not misleading.

• This project provides consulting services for migrating Oracle databases to the cloud. The work location of Alibaba Cloud personnel is not restricted. The service is delivered primarily through phone, DingTalk, and email.

• During project delivery, you are the primary implementer. Alibaba Cloud primarily provides solution design and assists with issues that arise during solution validation. You are responsible for performing database transformation, data migration, application transformation, application deployment, and application testing during the validation phase.

• During project delivery, both parties will use mutually agreed-upon communication methods. The project managers from both sides are responsible for exchanging the written information required for this project. Communication methods may include DingTalk, the Internet, and email.

• All project deliverables are provided in Simplified Chinese, and the working language is Chinese. All deliverables are provided in Microsoft Office formats, such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Visio, and are submitted as electronic copies.

• Party A and Party B shall perform the project work in accordance with the agreed-upon work plan, resource plan, and the start and end dates confirmed in writing. If the release of an iteration for a related business system of Party A is delayed, the project schedule will be postponed accordingly, and Party B shall not be held responsible for the delay.

• Neither party is liable for any special, incidental, or indirect damages or consequential economic losses, including loss of profits or savings, under this project, even if that party has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

• If a sample application is migrated to the cloud, you are the entity responsible for application O&M. You must perform all O&M work related to your business applications.

3.1. Division of responsibilities

3.1.1. Customer and Alibaba Cloud

• Both parties must agree on and confirm the specific business goals and scope.

• Sign the contract and complete the payment.

3.1.2. Responsibilities of both parties in each phase

Based on the tasks in each phase of the project plan, both parties have different responsibilities to ensure the project progresses smoothly.

3.1.3. Acceptance criteria

• The completion criteria for the High-Compatibility and General-purpose Editions of the database cloud adoption consulting service are as follows:

1. All covered deliverables are accepted, which is confirmed when you accept them online.

2. The solution validation for one sample application is complete.

• Provide expert services for Oracle database cloud adoption delivery.

• Provide an application transformation support group and on-site support as needed during the service period.

• Provide the "Project Survey Report," "Database Architecture and Capacity Design Plan," "Database and Application Transformation Plan," and "Database Migration Plan" according to the service edition. The specific deliverables vary based on the service content.

You must submit a service purchase request at least 10 days before the service begins.

• During project delivery, the provider offers technical support to help you refactor applications and perform data migration for your Alibaba Cloud databases. All key information is recorded in documents. Therefore, you should carefully review the content of these document deliverables to confirm that the submitted materials meet your requirements.

• If your business process requires internal reviews before Alibaba Cloud submits deliverables, you must facilitate and complete these internal reviews before the agreed-upon acceptance time.

• After a review meeting, if a document requires modification, Alibaba Cloud will modify it and resubmit it for your acceptance. The representative designated by you will sign off to confirm. Acceptance is finalized by clicking the acceptance confirmation button on the public cloud service system page.

• High-Compatibility and General-purpose Edition acceptance criteria:

1. The solution design meets your requirements and is confirmed through online acceptance. For the specific plan, see the Section 6.1. Itemized Acceptance Checklist.

2. The project is considered accepted when the solution is successfully validated with one sample system. The migration of the sample system's database to Alibaba Cloud signifies that the project has met the acceptance requirements.

Party A agrees to accept the deliverables from Party B according to the following acceptance plan, which is based on the deliverables for each phase listed in the '6.1 Acceptance Checklist'.
