The build phase covers deployment management and change management—two practices that reduce risk and keep cloud operations running efficiently.

The build phase focuses on risk management and operational efficiency across two areas:

• Deployment management: Unlike traditional Internet Data Centers (IDC), cloud infrastructure is API-based. Automating deployments across all resource layers significantly improves deployment efficiency.

• Change management: Change management spans the lifecycle of cloud environments and systems. As a core process within Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) management, it intersects with other operational processes. Because minor mistakes can cascade into failures, a key goal in this phase is a consistent, orderly change process.
